Hello there!
Having completed my earlier travel posts on Japan (Tokyo, Osaka and Hokkaido) and Maldives, in my previous posts, we have moved the journey of our exploration to Indonesia. Even though the #winterchallenge has ended, I will still continue to share interesting stuff on earlier travels in the community!
In my previous posts, I shared the magic of Bali's beaches and temples.

Indonesia - A Trip To Taman Ayun Temple In Bali
As most of you would know, other than relaxing at the spa and chilling at the beach, Bali has a lot more to offer! So here's some of my adventures at Bali!
When we were in Bali, we also visited the Alas Kedaton Monkey Forest. Because there were a lot of monkeys in the compound, our local guide told us to watch our belongings very closely. So I didn't take a lot of photos because I was worried that my phone would be snatched away by the monkeys. The local guide even told me to be careful of my spectacles because he had seen monkeys taking visitors' spectacles as well.
Near the entrance there was a statue of a monkey as well.
Some photos of the monkeys over here. There were quite a lot and I tried to stand from a safety distance from them so that they couldn't snatch my stuff. Hehe.
Interestingly, there were bats in the park as well. It was my first time seeing them up close and they were really big! Once again, we stood from a safety distance as we didn't know whether the bats will attack us or not.
And finally, we were done walking through the monkey park. My belongings, my spectacles, were all safe, thankfully. Next destination was the famous tourist attraction, Tanah Lot. Tanah Lot is actually a rock formation and interestingly, it's home to a temple as well. Yes, a temple on a rock formation.
But beyond that, the beach beside Tanah Lot is known as Sunset Beach. And everyday, there will be groups of tourists and visitors waiting to catch the sunset. And we will be doing so as well!
As you can tell, we were quite early but as you can see from this photo, it's already crowded with people!
Sunset check - the sun was still pretty high. I thought the place was very popular because the area was very huge and there were lots of places to chill and just admire the scenery. Also, there were a lot of different rock formations and it was really interesting to admire these nature stuff.
And on top of that, the therapeutic sound of the waves crashing onto the shore just added another level of dimension to this whole ambience.
The whole area was quite huge and since the sun wasn't setting so soon, we walked around to check out which viewing point would be the best, and also, to find that Tanah Lot.
More rock formations here! Would never imagine something like this would be in Bali.
Sunset check - the sun looked like it should be setting soon.
Some interesting stuff that we found along our walk to the formation. There seemed to be some event going on, but I couldn't understand their local culture, so we just watched along.
Another sunset check, this was about 1715h already. By then, we were getting a little too much tan from being under the sun for so long. If you know the evening sun, it can be quite strong at times.
And finally, we found Tanah Lot! See the little island/rock over there. It's interesting because there were many visitors making their way to the temple, presumably for sightseeing and perhaps to offer some prayers. As you can tell, due to the water levels of the tide, even though it was still accessible by foot, most visitors had to take off their footwear and walk bare footed across. My friend and I contemplated for a while and decided not to go over, since we were not sure whether the tides will be too high or not. Would be a little tricky if we were stuck on the rock and not being able to walk back (or having to swim back).
Sunset check - this was close to 1740h. The sun was finally heading down. Always nice to admire the sunset scenery, and the background here was just amazing.
This was almost at 1800h. Yay the sunset that we have been waiting for!
A final look before we started to head back for dinner.
Just look at how many people that were catching the sunset - and it's not even a public holiday. But it's not surprising at all, given how beautiful this place was.
Alright, that's the end of another adventure in Bali. I greatly enjoyed this sunset experience, because other than the sunset, this place has so many other interesting stuff, be it rock formations, temples, waves, beaches, etc.
Have you been to Bali and Tanah Lot before? Let me know in the comments below!
Finally, thanks for reading my post in the community under World Map Pin!
The sunset at Tanah Lot looks absolutely amazing! Must be a really popular spot, given the number of visitors there.
Yes it's amazing! One of the popular tourist spots in Bali as well! :)
I have been to Tanah Lot. So many times,I lost count 😂
Hehe that's nice! I see that you are a tour guide! No wonder!
I heard Canggu is the popular place now.
yes, Canggu is a popular place, I never go tour there. so many traffic.

Wow how cool, I have been there shortly on a 3 temple day trip but we haven´t seen the monkeys (gladly) nor the bats (sadly) - I just saw them and thought WFT... how big are they?!?!
I think Bali has a lot of attractions to offer and different parts of the island offer a different experience to visitors! You can google "Alas Kedaton" to see where this is at. Hope you enjoyed your day trip! Thanks for dropping by! :)
It sure has @relf87. They are just not that easy to reach. In a tour you don´t have enough time to really get to know the places I guess.. we did enjoy it but would have liked to have more time. (and less traffic haha)
Yeah I also recalled the traffic being an issue too! Hehe!
