Hello there!
Having completed my earlier travel posts on several interesting countries, such as Japan (Tokyo, Osaka and Hokkaido), Maldives, Indonesia (Bali and Yogyakarta), I was going through my past travels to see which would be the next interesting country or city to share, and I finally shortlisted New York, USA!
Some years ago, I actually was assigned to a work trip to New York. Excluding transit, it would be my first visit to the USA and it was exciting that I will get to experience New York. However, the downside of work trips was that my days were packed with meetings and there was limited time for sightseeing. Fortunately, very fortunately, there was a weekend in between the work meetings, which meant I had just two days to explore New York, and hence, this upcoming series is called "Speed Running Through New York"!
This was my first two part of the series:
USA - Speed Running Through New York: Top Of The Rock
USA - Speed Running Through New York: A Day At The Museum
USA - Speed Running Through New York: Soaking In The Past And The Views
Thanks to everyone who has joined me on this speed running journey through New York - it's the final night and the final post of this series!
As you would know, I am a big fan of viewing cities from a high vantage point. I previously went up Top Of The Rock during the day to see the day view of New York, and this time, I went up the Empire State Building at night!

Actually it was supposed to be a late evening visit, but the queues were so long! I think I reached the lobby around 2000h+ but spent 1.5h to 2h queueing for my turn because there was a restriction on the number of people going up. By the time I reached the peak, it was past 2200h! Was tired and sleepy but I was never going to miss this!
This was how the area looked like - very crowded as expected. It was really late and because the Empire State Building was so high, there were not much lights around so the photos were very dark. But of course, the main attraction is New York city!

Finally I managed to squeeze into a good spot for photo taking!
LOOK AT THE VIEW!!!
The city view might not be the number one view in the world, but it definitely is one of the top few city views in my view! It helped that it was very late in the night, so the skies were dark and the bright lights on the skyscrapers created a big contrast. Unfortunately, this was a huge test for my mobile phone camera, which might not do justice to the actual view, but I think the photos were pretty good already!

Since I was already up there, I experimented with some of the settings on my mobile phone camera, using the Normal mode and the Night mode. So one version was darker and one version was brighter. Calling all the photography experts - which one is the better one?

So that's the end of my short trip to New York! Despite the short span of 2 days, with careful planning, I managed to maximise my time and it was definitely a fruitful trip. There's so many things to do in New York, and every attraction in the city was special in its own way. Hopefully one day, I will be able to visit New York again so that I can explore other parts of the city!
So that's all I have today! Have you been to New York or Empire State Building before? Let me know in the comments below!
