in Worldmappin3 years ago (edited)

The visit was only for two days a weekend from Saturday to Sunday as a family we went by car to follow lunch to the highest point of mainland Portugal where it couldn't help but be snowing and covered by a white blanket.
At the highest point is called Torre, where, in addition to other buildings, there is a building with various trade of typical articles of the region and above all the beautiful cheese from Serra da Estrela, the most famous is a buttered cheese and the ham from the Serra is delicious often served on wheat bread.

In the place it was quite cold but it was possible to play with the children sending each other some snowballs, a beautiful day spent with the family.

Here as you can see it was quite cold and the wind was blowing with some intensity causing a snowfall we had to take shelter for a few moments in a coffee shop which was very hot and we looked through the windows and it was snowing well.
We were still lucky we didn't need to use the snow chains.

Here I and the little ones are at the entrance of this coffee shop which sheltered us for a while from the cold wind and snow that was starting to fall with some intensity.

In this photograph of my family we can see the tower in the background for which this place is known. With its characteristic of being rounded at the top of it.

After our ascent of the Serra da Estrela snow, we descend to a small town at the foot of the mountain called Sabugueiro where we stay in this small place full of traditional commerce and with a wide range of accommodation and restaurants to serve tourists.

In this place, I couldn't miss and taste a really typical dish of the region, the beautiful chanfana accompanied in this case with fries but it can also be cooked.
It is a very tender meat and served in earthenware.

It was a full weekend on this visit to the snow with my family to the highest point of Mainland Portugal I hope you enjoyed this post through this post, this place is without a doubt a place of extraordinary beauty in a mountain and culture full of offers for tourists appreciate.
