One of my favorite parts of the tour I took to Guatapé and the town of Peñol was the visit to El Parque San José, a curious mix of restaurant and petting farm that serves as a meeting point for all the tourists who go on the road to the Peñol stone.

Although most of the visitors are participants of the different tours that take place in Guatapé, it is worth noting that this restaurant is open to the public working 24/7 and has a lot to offer, from breakfasts, lunches, souvenir sales, and even a couple of inflatable games for the little ones in the house.

The best part of the entire park was undoubtedly the petting farm, characterized by a large number of animals of all kinds that roam freely around the place: goats, cows, donkeys, ducks, sheep, etc., are just some of the creatures that we can find here, and yes, we are free to have contact with them (As long as it is respectful).

The weather is pleasant and the view too, in fact, it is a place that seems to be built in a very strategic way to take good photographs.

For a short stop it is great and you can really enjoy the warm atmosphere of the place, the decoration and the people who serve you with great kindness.

Although according to the tourist guides it is usually a very busy stop in high season, I was fortunate to go at a slightly more relaxed time, and I feel that it is important to take this into account to visit safely.

El Peñol is a municipality that has a lot to offer and I like that despite having such a "touristy" approach, it is easy to have contact with the most genuine side of its population, and, in economic terms, it is relatively accessible.

The path to San José Park is quite easy, and, from there to the center of Guatapé there is not too much distance, resulting in a great rest within the walk. There is ice cream, games and activities all the time to pass the time, although my stay there was quite short, I admit that it was one of my favorite parts of the whole trip.

Like most places I had the opportunity to visit in Colombia, it is characterized by being full of friendly people, and, in general, providing a very pleasant experience.**
