Have You Been Here : Old Neptune

in Worldmappin28 days ago

Perched on the Kentish North Coast, Whitstable has a rich maritime history and strong arts culture which blends seamlessly into the modern town.

Part of the Canterbury District, Whitstable's famed for its oysters. An intrinsic part of this sea town's character Whitstable's oysters are celebrated every July at the Oyster Festival.

Wander along the beachfront, past the sea blasted painted wooden homes, with their palm trees and maritime themed facades, you'll find a host of vendors, open front bars, and pubs where Oysters can be enjoyed year round. However, they're not the only delicious fare. Ossie's famous Fish & Chip shop still fries in beef tallow, making their fish & chips some of the best in the country.

The town's famous Farmers Markets have a host of local organic Kentish produce, all from within a 30 mile radius of the town. Like no other town by the sea Whitstable's charms are complimented by any one of Kent's wonderful traditional ales.

There are few locations in which to enjoy a fine ale, fresh oysters, and the sea air, that are as pleasing as sitting on the beach terrace of The Old Neptune.
