After the car show at Cooma, we joined a convoy of sorts heading up to the highest point we could find. A few of the young Queenslanders were desperate to find snow, as they hadn't seen it, let alone seen it falling. It was a really big deal for them. We also headed up with an older couple we'd met in Tassie in January, all on the walkie talkies to hoot and holler every time we saw a car pass with snow heaped on the windscreen. Now, if you're in America or parts of the world that snow all the time, you might be laughing, but for us, we have to go to the mountains to find snow.
Charlotte Pass is Australia's highest ski resort at 1700 odd metres, and we had heard the snow was falling there. It's a snow resort and village in the Snowy Mountains, NSW, in Kosciuszko National Park - Mt Kosciuszko is the highest mountain in Australia. WE had planned to walk up there but we didn't in the end - a bit cold and wet.
The drive up was really beautiful. It reminds me of Scotland, but then many mountain areas remind me of Scotland - all rocks, shrub and stunted trees!
At the top were a heap of cars on the same tip - see snow and have snowball fights. Having 4WD's, we drove straight pass the carpark and up to a sneaky track just before the chairlift, where we parked. The young lads in their Landrovers were even cheekier and drove right up under the chairlift. They were so sweet. One of them had their nephew with them who made a snow man.
Of course there were snowball fights. I bent over to take a photo of the cars and someone threw snow down my butt crack which was hilarious of course - to THEM!
The views were just gorgeous. You can't beat snow topped mountains.
After that we went to the cafe and had a hot tea and coffee and some fries and watched the falling snow, then said goodbye - they were off home to Queensland and we were off for more adventures in the high country.
With Love,

Makes total sense to those of us who seldom see snow, looks awesome...., so do the mountains and the idea of having a snow fight!
