Christmas illness, anyone? Jump aboard a crowded ferry to Tasmania on the busiest day of the year - the day after Christmas. The Spirit of Tasmania takes a day to get across the Bass Strait, leaving at 8.30 am and arriving at 7. We couldn't get a night crossing as it was so booked out. I was dreading the day to be honest - screaming kids, noise, coughing - I can be a bit adverse to people in these situations!
So when Jamie suggested we get a cabin for the crossing for a shared Christmas present, I didn't argue. We got the only one left, which was probably due to a cancellation - a double one for $350 which was a LOT of money but as I said, we didn't buy each other a present and yolo, right? Plus he'd sold a load of Land Rover parts and BTC is up, so hey - we deserve this!
The suite was really big compared to the twin cabins we had travelled in before. The bed was comfy and huge.
There was big fluffy towels and robes, and complimentary shampoo, conditioner and soap. You bet I was going to take it with me!!
A bottle of wine and some chocolate - woo hoo. That would go nicely with the leftover dinner I had packed in takeaway containers! No way could we afford lunch after this!!!
The shower and toilet area was quite nice too. I definitely had a shower just before we disembarked, because I was definitely getting my moneys worth!!! Jamie said it was the best $350 he's ever spent. I mean, it's amazing just to see Jamie relax!
We spent the day reading, dozing, listening to podcasts. So good. The only worry now is how can we go back to being ordinary people travelling without a cabin?

Haha i look tired .. definitely deserve a cabin!
Isn’t that cool 😎
What a wonderful spot to cross with the ferry, the large space with double bed. 🥰
Awesome ✌🏻
We did it once on an overnight Scotland to Belfast. So much better than bunks.
We crossed so many times with a ferry the last year. Have to count it one day. Haha
Good for you guys! Probably the best decision and if it means you avoided getting sick, all the better. It looks like a really nice way to cross.
Aww you look so cute (and happy!!) <3 Enjoy your travels! you deserve to relax and yolo indeed! Make the most of it!
