Today, I had the privilege of visiting the Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial with my family. It is located on 26 Alipur Road, where Dr. B.R Ambedkar took his last breath, this memorial is a stunning representation of modern and Buddhist architecture.
As we entered the museum, we were greeted by the sight of SC/STs, paying homage to Dr. Ambedkar, who was not only the father of the Indian Constitution but also a social reformer and the first Law Minister of Independent India.
The design of the memorial, shaped like a constitution in the form of a book, immediately caught my attention. The musical fountains, the replica of the Ashoka Pillar at Sarnath, and the 12-foot high bronze statue of Dr. Ambedkar were some of the highlights of the museum. The atmosphere was filled with reverence and respect for the man who was considered a god by many.
As we explored the museum, we came across various displays that showcased Dr. Ambedkar's life and his contributions to the nation. The wax figures of renowned leaders like Jawaharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel, and Dr. Abdul Kalam Azad added to the immersive experience. The model of the Parsi House where Dr. Ambedkar lived as a Parsi was a poignant reminder of the discrimination he faced due to his caste.
One of the most moving moments of the visit was when we entered a room where time seemed to have stopped. The wall clock showed the exact moment when Dr. Ambedkar passed away, freezing everything in that moment of grief and loss. It was a powerful reminder of the impact he had on the nation and its people.
The meditation hall, where we had to leave our shoes and ego outside, provided a peaceful sanctuary where we could reflect and find enlightenment in the presence of the Buddha. The ten Buddhist Mudras outside the building added to the spiritual ambiance of the place.
Overall, my visit to the Dr. Ambedkar National Memorial was a truly memorable experience. It was a day filled with learning, reflection, and reverence for a man who played a pivotal role in shaping the nation's destiny. I left the memorial with a sense of gratitude and a desire to visit again in the future.
