In the Northern Lower Peninsula of Michigan sits Burt Lake. On the South shoreline you'll find the 400 acre State Park. We'd never been to this park so we decided to check it out.
It's equipped with over 300 campsites and all have some type of electrical service from 20-50amp. The park offers 2000ft+ of sandy shoreline and a very nice beach for the family.
The sites were spacious and had some trees for privacy. Also a nice cover of large trees for good shade. The park was pretty full being one of the last camping weekends of the year. This was looking down the row of sites we were in.
I don't have pictures of the restrooms but they were clean and modern with full shower facilities. They had 4 of them located throughout the park.
The park is Pet-friendly and dogs are allowed on the beach. A well marked trail circles the park and is almost 1 mile long. You'll see plenty of what's next on the trail.
Wildlife
Wildlife was abundant all around the park. You'll find squirrels and chipmunks searching the empty campsites for anything left behind. I was able to capture this Grey and Black Squirrel poking around our site.
We also saw a good variety of Birds. Down by the beach were your typical Seagulls.
Then we came across a mother Mallard and her young.
Next up was this flock of Canadian Geese heading out for a sunset swim.
Every once in a while you would hear a tapping up in the trees. After a little chase around the trees I was able to catch the culprits. The Red Bellied Woodpecker was hard to get a good picture.
This Downy Woodpecker was more photogenic.
We also saw some steel birds.
This Helicopter was very low over the Park. I think they were doing Guard drills that weekend.
Lake Sunsets
You couldn't ask for better sunsets over the lake. I was able to capture a few during our stay here.
That concludes our stay at the park. We didn't get as many pictures as we'd like to, but will be back in the future to get more.
We haven't been posting much lately because we've been on the road and didn't have the best coverage. Much more trips to come.
