Casa Gorordo Museum: A Place That Makes You Want to Stay a Little Longer

I have been to the Casa Gorordo Museum twice, and I can say that it was one of the most unforgettable experiences I have ever had as a history and museum lover. I first came here with our whole class for a class tour. The second time was when I won a quiz about the history of Cebu, and as a prize, I had a special INATO tour of Casa Gorordo. I never thought that the day would come when I would walk into this old house like a VIP, with an even deeper understanding of the history of the place. As a lover of history, this is really a win.

Fun fact: This is not located at Gorordo Street like the name itself; but, it's is located at No. 35 Lopez Jaena Street, Barangay Parian, Cebu City.

Current entrance fee for Casa Gorordo Museum is 100 pesos. But if you want to deepen and be in-depth with youyour learning, choose the guided tour, the fee is 150 pesos.

Every wall, piece of furniture, and artifact carries a memory of times gone by. From the time of the Spaniards, Americans, Japanese, to the modern era today, Casa Gorordo remains steadfast as the guardian of history. It is a privilege to enter here and experience what it was like to live in a house with a mixture of Spanish and Filipino architecture. Of course, we didn't miss the opportunity to take pictures in every corner of the house. But we didn't just take pictures, because we also made sure to study every artifact in every room. Every object inside Casa Gorordo has its own story, all have a deep connection to Cebu's history. It's interesting to think how one house has witnessed so many changes in our town.

When I returned for my VIP tour, I noticed some changes in the museum. There were places we hadn't been to before because they were still under renovation, but on my second visit, I got to see more of Casa Gorordo. They made some parts of the house even more beautiful, and the technology they added made the experience more interactive; there were tablets that provided additional information, projectors that showed important historical scenes, and an interactive map that gave us a deeper understanding of the overall history of Cebu. The combination of old and new is great.

Honestly, I won't post all my photos in this place, because I want others to experience it too. It's better still to see for yourself, feel the presence of the past, and let your own imagination bring history to life. If you are going here, it is better to visit after lunch or during siesta time. This is the perfect time to relax, reflect, or even work if you want to get something done. You don't have to rush or follow a strict itinerary, the experience is better if you take it easy and savor each moment.

Casa Gorordo is not just a museum; it is a proof that our history is rich and colorful. You can't just see it; you can feel it, too. One thing is for sure: I will come back and I will keep coming back here.

My friend keep telling me about this and she's right! This museum is indeed a gem!

Absolutely! It’s definitely a gem worth visiting! 😊✨

Wow! I really like the vibes.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked the vibes! 😊

I have been to Casa Gorordo but I don't recall I have seen the ones you have shown in the pictures especially the dining area. I might visit the place again! Great post!

That's a great plan! Casa Gorordo has so many details to explore. Hope you enjoy your next visit! 😊

I particularly love the dining table with lovely table setting with all the antique chinaware. It is good that they added some new features to make the experience more interactive especially for the techy tourists, they would love it more. I hope they continue to maintain and beautify Casa Gorordo so more people can see its historical value.

This place has always been in my bucket list. Hope to visit there soon 🙏
