Aquarium Grotto Garden, Cairo, Egypt

in Worldmappin9 months ago

When I was in Cairo for four years, I used to play cricket with my friends in this park. Honestly, I never pay attention to the name of this park. It was a big park and we used to get a good space where we used to play Cricket. We don’t find many people in daytime there so it was a good place for us and we freely hit big shots without any hesitation as it won’t be hitting or hurting anyone. I remember that I never find this place crowded.

I found these pictures in my treasure folder which reminds of the time we went to this park with family. My Two brothers visited us in Cairo and I told them about this park. Honestly, as I said earlier, I didn’t know the name of the park but I know the directions to take all of them to this place.

It was a hot sunny day, the unbearable heat of Cairo was at its peak. Still we thought of it as a good attraction and had high expectations from this park. We went there and as usual, there were not many people around. Just a group of young boys and couple of other people around, all of them were locals and not a single tourist out there.

We in no time realized that it is not a touristic place however, as we were there so we decided to explore this place. I remember that both of my brothers were taunting me that why I took all of them to this place. The man-made artificial caves looked nice from outside which I entered for the first time with my family and found that it was a horrible place to visit with family.

No maintenance at all, and no care taker who looks after the place. There were chalking and dust all around the place. The aquariums in the cave were so nicely built, a brilliant idea but once again, many of them were not cleaned up. There were different kinds of fishes in it. Also there were different kinds of fishes preserved in the glasses.

Another surprising thing inside the cave was the bats. A lot of bats were taking rest in these caves. It was a bit difficult to take their pictures as it was too dark inside and the pictures were getting blurry. Still we tried to capture them with too many tries.

I got to know the word Grotto from this park which means a natural or man-made cave where we feel relaxed, comfortable and protected. This park has an amazing history as it was built in early 19s but as I said, lack of maintenance and careless management turned this amazing place to a nightmare for tourists that is why no tourists visit this place, only locals do. It can be transformed into one of the best attractions in Cairo but need a bit more attention from government or management.

We were really disappointed with our visit, did some photo shoot and came back in an hour or so. Honestly, I liked the caves, so nicely built and looks to me something unique. Fish Garden just needs to be fixed. I was hoping that it would have been changed and improved but when I searched about it in internet, I got to see the same reviews and things what I said above which means it is still the same. I hope someday management wakes up from a deep sleep and fixed this park.

An experience that I rarely see, seeing aquariums in caves, it seems very strange but it is too real in this post.

Yes, it was good to watch those fishes in that aquariums built inside the caves.

Ehhh, thats a very unique and cool park, kinda scary too. Especially the cave part with those bats, even those fishes inside the glasses is kinda giving horror vibe, it looks likes a species from different experimentation (≧▽≦). But really, the place looks okay, it's sad though that no one take care of it regularly. For sure if they manage the park well, it can become one of tourist attraction spot in your place.

hahaha yeah perfect location for a good horror movie and yes, maybe those fishes turned zombies because of strange food provided to them or maybe right, some experiment going on with them in the darkness of horror nights hahahah what an interesting story but it can't be true as it is opened for public.
