RE: Red Bull National Downhill Mountain Bike Competition - Oliver Springs, TN.

ha it's messed, isn't it? There is a used record store in town that just re-opened up; I was looking for an old Beach Boys record for our daughter, so I went to ask the kid working if I could order it through the store. I kid you not; the guy was like "yeah, you could probably get it cheaper online." I go, "Well, I thought I'd support you guys and order through you..." Nope. He tells me "Go online man, we're too expensive for that - you can get it cheaper on Amazon or eBay."

I mean, it's like mass-induced reduced consciousness or something. I appreciate his concern for my record buying budget, but you wonder, you know? More than happy to spend a few more dollars to help them with rent

Wtf is wrong with that dude?! I'm the guy who would explain the difference in price.

Records. That's cool. Before we split I unloaded my entire collection. Thousands of pieces. I kept 6. I wrote about one of them a long ass time ago, a record called Tribute To Bangladesh. The collection was just weighing me down anyway.

In Long Beach, used vinyl joints like that are popular and in competition with each other. How are they where you are? You wouldn't happen to be in the UP would you? Sorry if I've already asked that.

What Beach Boys album were you looking to get?

No problem, I'm close to the UP; Wisconsin, actually.

Tribute to Bangladesh? That sounds like something Geoge Harrison-esque; am I wrong?

We're up to about 100 albums here...so nothing even close to what you had. The album I wanted to order was the The Beach Boys Today!. I'm not going to lie man, I'm a big Beach Boy harmony guy...our daughter is getting into them too. Vinyl places in this area don't do very well; it's apparently not a Midwestern thing where i"m at. But I remember some solid places in Santa Cruz when I visited before the virus.

That's chilling you even knew it was a George Harrison. Yeah, that album. 4 pieces if I'm not mistaken. Haven't held it in years.

Way, way, way back on the other chain I wrote about it. Really cool stuff. Harrison was approached by a super famous Bengali musician Cuz their rights were being taken.. long, cool, story. Harrison and company raised some crazy amount of money at the concert in a matter of months or something. that album set.

Only reason I had a bunch is right after high school I turned records on the weekends so it got me into yard sale shopping in my free time just collecting.

Beach Boys are dope! Around this world, most everyone knows the lyrics to at least one 10 Beach Boys songs.

ok...well, I should warn you, I'm a huge Beatles fan. Huge. I remember that unique George album due to a song they used to play on the radio (Give Me Love, live - I think?), and always trying to "tape it" with a cassette. It was a rare one...definitely one I recall have to spend a bit of time on the weekends when it was a Beatles Weekend on that station.

My wife got me a record player for my 40th birthday, and one of the first albums I made sure to get was his All Things Must Pass album, used. My brother and I used to listen to that one endlessly on CD back in college. It's even better on the original pressing, despite being a bit tattered.

Yeah, the Beach Boys are something altogether man. I've been trying to get most of the Brian led stuff on vinyl for our daughter; there is something about their music...get away from the stuff they play too much, and there is a sadness in it. Needless to say, I found Today! used on eBay for a halfway decent price.

Beatles. Too cool. During our travels we stayed in Liverpool for two months. We were only staying in 30 day intervals wherever we were but that's how cool Liverpool was—doubled our stay. Toured The Cavern Club, Albert hall, the docs, all that stuff. Yoko has a Lennon museum there.

This is 2018, pre covid

Put Liverpool on your to-do list of you like the Beatles. I swear that city would be the London of the country if Lennon was around. It's Beatles, Beatles, everything Beatles there.

Yeah, I'd love to visit Liverpool; once I get to retire from my garbage job with crypto, we have some plans to travel more. We kind of hit spots here and there now, but it's always time-constrained with work. To dream though...
