Historical Sher Khan Stepped Well (Baoli) & Old Mosque

in Worldmappin2 days ago

Hello guys. Hope you all are well. I am here after a long time with a very Historical Sher Khan Stepped Well and Mosque. Two days ago my friends decided to go to that historical place and I immediately agreed with them to go to Shekhupura. This historical place is located in the historic town of Jandiala Sher Khan in Sheikhupura city. A Karnal Sher Khan of Mughal Emperor Akbar, was gifted this place by Mughal Emperor Akbar that's why this village is called by the name of Jandiala Sher Khan.

We were there at nine in the morning so that we could have a good look at the place and take pictures. First we visited the old mosque at the entrance of which @tahastories1 is taking off his shoes to enter. There are three gates to enter it and you can see that small brick is used in this mosque which looks very sophisticated and designs are made on the floor with the same small brick. Seeing this mosque reminds one of the old times, how this mosque would have been constructed.

All the three gates of the mosque were closed so we didn't get a chance to see the inside of the mosque but its doors were made of wood and had very intricate carvings on them which was really amazing. The carvings of these doors show the intelligence of the ancient people and these doors are still in good condition.

Sher Khan Stepped Well

When we saw the building from a distance, it looked very beautiful and historical and I was very excited to go inside because I like visiting such historical places. There was no one else there but us and it was a good opportunity to have a good look at this Stepped Well.

A plate was made outside it on which the history of this stepped well was described so that people could know about it. It is written in Urdu language and in it the admiration of this stepped well is described in such a way that if the sun sees this stepped well , it should be ashamed and if the moon sees this stepped well at night, it should be not come out cause of shame.

The arches built on the inside, in which small bricks have been used, look very sophisticated. Several arches were built there and they were built with the same design on the inside. This stepped well was built to meet the water needs of the people and this place is very haunted because it's very old and there is not much population around it. This place is clean due to less population around it.

The well was very deep and big inside and stairs steps were also very big which indicates that it was built in very ancient times. Inside the well, some carvings were done on the upper side. Very small and fine materials were used in its construction so that it would last for a long time and not get damaged by a lot of water and that is why it is still standing.

You can realize how big the well is in this picture. @mojiko-blog is looking small while the top dome of the well is missing in this photo. The most surprising thing is that this well is not even half because the Punjab government has put a lot of mud here and closed it so that people can visit it easily.

A small dome was also built above where my friend is standing and it was very sophisticated and beautiful. As you can see in the pictures below I took good pictures of it and there are many such domes in this well. All of us friends @tahastories1, @mojiko-blog and @moaz-sabir were shouting loudly because our voices were echoing and it was so enjoyable.

A strong iron net has been placed over this well to prevent any animal or person from falling into it. The Punjab government has spent a lot of money to make this well safe so that visitors can easily visit this place.

This is me and I don't know why I took a picture standing in a strange place, maybe I was just falling in love with those walls. As I was looking at the walls and domes of this well, I was imagining the ancient people and the time of its construction, how this well would have been built and how it would have looked when there was plenty of water.

The building of this well looks very historical and iconic from the outside when the sun rays were falling on its clean wall, I found the scene very beautiful, I took some pictures and then we went to the top of the stepped well with the help of stairs. Stairs were built on both sides of it, one for ascending and one for descending.

Some rooms were also constructed on the roof of stepped well so that the people of Punjab and Kashmir could trade and conduct their business. Four rooms were built on the four sides of the Stepped Well roof and a large room was built in the middle with eight doors. Here every tourist feels himself in the past to see how ancient people designed their buildings. The roof of the stepped well also shows the mosque that is built along the well.
