Learning about Tribal culture at Daringbadi - Day 1

Tribal girls were making themselves unattractive for a reason

This was our first experience to know more about tribal culture at Daringbadi and enjoy the cool evenings with some niche traditional tribal live shows. Can you recognize my family in the above photo ? As I wrote in my last post, the cultural program in the evening was one of a kind showcasing traditional tribal outfits and explaining a bit about their history followed by their dance.

A little rest and we were ready to go for the high tea.

The event started with some nice flute play by the presenter of the show, who is also a tribal person and very knowledgeable, having won several awards including a president medal for promoting the tribal culture. Their language is called "Kui" and these tribal people are called "Kuthia Kondo" and "Dongia Kondo". The "Kuthia" tribal girls are very beautiful and in ancient times, the King would take these beautiful tribal girls / ladies for his entertainment, so that is the reason, they made their face ugly by painting tattoos, so that they can stay with their people. And their faces were being tattooed at a very early stage before they become teen, to protect themselves from the evil king. What a painful story it was - though the situation is not the same now, it has become part of their culture. And many of them still living in remotest areas, are very simple and trustworthy people, frightened by the modern civilized people. They are happy with their minimalist hard-working life - a life in nature's gift and disease free.

Even though the day was hotter, the evening became chilled pretty soon because of high altitude and this beautifully decorated pandal was a relief.

Do you like the ambience and the set up in Eco Retreat? I have something special caught up in my memory - I just loved that ward "Kui" - kind of a short form of Queen. Watch the video and experience the tribal dance, you will love their simplicity reflected in it.

This post will be part of my Google review of Eco Retreat Daringbadi.

I have seen such tribal girls in sometime youtube video but here when I got the history why they tattooed their faces, is very painful.

Ya, things have changed now, but definitely this was a painful journey for them.

You seem to take the coolest trips and enjoy the neatest adventures.

Seems hard to imagine that a person could be taken by another person for entertainment. Great to be reminded how far we have come with human rights while we have far to go still. Makes for some fantastic costumes and I love how they include you in the ceremony and pictures.

Now I am hungry for hot snacks!

Hello dear friend @sanjeevm good afternoon
How beautiful it is to see the whole family enjoying this event, what a beautiful place, I love the shops. Congratulations on the place you have chosen, I am not surprised that your son does not want to go to sleep, the place is beautiful
Beautiful photographs, I appreciate you sharing with us.
enjoy the weekend

the place is beautiful

Kids wanted to stay there for a long time.

It's interesting to hear about those tribes and symbolism.

Looks like a fun show, and you probably enjoyed it a lot with your family.

This must definitely have been a lovely event I must confess. This is great to actually see

I hope traditions like this don't become obsolete over time @sanjeevm

Interesting to know about their culture. It increases my knowledge. Appreciatable

Very good event, the lively atmosphere made me really enjoy your post

This tribal culture looks interesting and amazing!

Even though I might not really know much about the culture, but it really look like a culture to admire

I've just seen so many videos about it, these girls draw cartoons on their bodies like that and that's how it's considered more beautiful in their culture.

That seemed like a fun experience. The place looks nice, there was a presentation, and the food looked delicious as well. I hope you and your family enjoyed your stay.

A beautiful collection of good moments. So pretty looking. I always like tribe functions. The dress up always attracts me.

Impresionante cultura, bonitas fotos . que belleza.
