Hello Hiveians!
Today is my birthday! I have turned the ripe old age of 32 and spent my birthday week in the White Mountains of New Hampshire to see some of the most spectacular foliage in the United States!
We had some unusually warm weather for this time of year, which was pretty nice, but also tough to hike in. Let's just say I got pretty drenched and having a heavy backpack on didn't help the matter.
We ended up spending about 3 days in the Mountains and the foliage was pretty much at peak, except for up further North where it was a bit past peak.
On the first day we hiked Mt.Moosilauke, which is the 10th highest mountain in New Hampshire at 4,802 ft. Surprisingly, this was my first time hiking this mountain to the summit. In the past I had hiked parts of it to kill some time and then doubled back, but this was my first time summiting it, and do I regret not hiking it sooner, what amazing views! At the top you have 360 degree views of endless mountains, all the way to Canada on clear days! Here's some of my favorite photos from there!
It was a long and pretty tough climb, after a year and a half of pandemic life, I felt the toll, but it was well worth the struggle, the views were just incredible.
The next day we decided to wake up before dawn and head into Franconia Notch for sunrise at the iconic Artists Bluff, overlook Echo lake and the Notch. It was tough waking up so early, but once again, it was well worth the effort! And here's some of my favorite shots from that!
And then that night, I decided to try some astrophotography, which I've been getting more into lately, and there will be a pretty awesome post on that soon! But anyway, I forgot a key piece of gear and couldn't get the most out of the scene because of it, but here's what I did get.
And the last day before heading home, I decided to wake up early again and fly my drone a bit down by the river.
And then we went to Artists Bluff again to see the low cloud ceiling.
After that, it was a 2 hour ride home back to Boston.
It's always a pleasure to spend my birthday week in the mountains, as it allows me to reflect on the prior year and put things into perspective. And the foliage doesn't hurt either.
Have you ever been to the White Mountains? Do you have any amazing foliage where you live? What was your favorite images/location?
Hope you enjoyed, and stay tuned for the next post! In the meantime, you can see more of my work at www.SeanGold.com or on Instagram at @SeanGoldPhotos.

Happy 32nd birthday! @seangold💥
The struggles hiking up the difficult climb were well worth it! The breathtaking views from Artists Bluff overlooking Echo Lake and the Notch left me speechless. I can only imagine how impressive it was seeing the splendor of the autumn scenery in person.
