Hello everyone, how are you today? So much exhausted from work this week. Many things needed to be done, many documents needed to be submitted, and graduation is fast approaching. With the exhausting days, loosening up a bit for a while from work is the best to do.
Today, I got the chance to ride again my motorcycle and visit my friend in Asturias, Cebu. While traveling to the place, I will always be mesmerized by the name of one of the barangay. The place is called Barangay Tubigagmanok, in other words, a place where an abundance of water which accidentally discovered by the chickens.
A brief history of the place...
Asturias is well known for beach resorts which can be seen along the highway. The place is also known for its wide shorelines, yet it's not white. Nevertheless, people enjoy swimming in the place because they offer less prices compared to fine white sand beaches.
According to my aunt, barangay tubigagmanok got its name from one of the sources of water along the beach where chickens keep coming into the place. One time when drinking water is scarce in the place it was unusual to find chickens keep on coming near the beach and drinking its flowing water. And, unusually, chickens will drink salt water from the beach, then they discovered that the flowing water is not that salty but is tap water. Because of that incident, the place is being named "tubigagmanok" - tubig means water, and manok means chicken.
Today, one of the beach resorts in Asturias, Cebu has proof that the place has drinking water for they created a deep well near its beach, the Eleca Beach Resort.
What to expect at Eleca Beach Resort?
Going to the beach will surely be one of the best things to do if I am tired. Walking inside Elika Beach Resort, a lot of mahogany trees welcomes you. You will be amazed by the tall mahogany plants planted along the footsteps before going to the inner part of the resort.
Having these trees around is so refreshing. Aside from the fresh smell of the sea breeze coming from the sea, the place offers a very relaxing site because of the green scenery around.
Before you can go down the footpath, we need to pay the entrance fee of Php15.00 or 0.28 USD for the adult person and Php10.00 or 0.18 USD for the child.
Not only outside the area but going inside a lot of growing mahogany plants which made the place so relaxing to stay.
Cabins and cottages...
The place offers very affordable prices for those who love swimming with friends or family, this place is best for gatherings for its low prices yet everyone will enjoy swimming.
The cottages are made of bamboo splits and wood. Cottages which are good for 10 people will only cost 300 pesos.
Because of the trees around, some of the beachgoers will just only bring their tents or mats and place them on the sand. The place has a wide shoreline where you can go and roam around the place.
Wide Shorelines...
The place offers a wide shoreline and you can do a lot of activities in the place.
If you are bringing your friends, you can do team building in the place for it has a wide shoreline, and the trees around offer the best shades for beachgoers.
You can see big rocks on the side of the beach. The designs on the rocks are so incredible to look at. Just be careful with your kids not to go in there to avoid unnecessary incidents.
On the center of the wide shoreline, you will see a deep well where the famous history of the place comes from. The deep well is constructed at the year 1968. It was written on the top of the well.
People who are not familiar with the place will surely be amazed at the deep well constructed beside a beach resort. It's very unusual to see beach resorts with deep well nearby because some will say that the water will be contaminated with salt water, but this place is not. Nature has its unique way of making its way.
Other Amenities...
If you are bringing food with you for grills, they offer grills for visitors.
Comfort rooms are also available in the place.
After swimming, if you go washing with tap water, they had a unique way for the shower. Hose are tied on the trunks of the mahogany trees and people will just go in there to wash their bodies after swimming.
I am overwhelmed by how lovely nature is in this place. My exploration is another achievement unlocked because I got to see in reality how the place got its name by seeing the deep well constructed near the beach. And got to immerse myself in the beach and the trees around, for peace of mind.
That's all for today's blog my Hive friends.

That's a very interesting story of a chicken finding a drinking water source. hahaha just curious though, yung well di sya inaabot ng salt water pag nag hightide?
Mukhang di sya naaabot ng high tide yong taas ng deep well nila.. Cguro aabot lang sa may bandang ibaba.. 😊
