Cross Roads in PA
Here we were, on the road back from Ohio... already 4 hours into the trip and it was my wife's turn to drive. She wanted her trusty burnt coffee bean juice from Starbucks. Of course she thinks it's great coffee, but that's not the point here.
The point is that there were no Starbucks anywhere near where we were driving, nothing on our way for another 100 miles o so. I wanted here to have some coffee, so I searched and found what seemed to be a little mom and pops roaster that was right of he highway. As we got close to it, we noticed how quaint the place looked, nestled in a Victorian looking building on the side of a hill, surrounded by train cars from different eras.
And this place is called Doolittle Station, right off route I80 in western Pennsylvania. Go ahead and check it out right here for more photos and a little history on it.
I should have taken more pictures, but here we are... sometimes experiences take over and we forget to document what we're doing!!! The barista told us that some doctor owns all these trains and has a passion for collecting them. She said they were all open and free to walk into to check them out and so we did. Oh and she mentioned that we aught to walk up the hill to check out he giant dino collection too.
What a surprise that was!! And there were quite a lot of these dinosaurs scattered around the property.
Of course, this dinosaur and train collector had Tomas the Train... how could you not have that when you're doing train collections?
Oh and I almost forgot about the dragon they had in captivity there too:
What a fun and unexpected trip stop it was. I miss doing things like that, being spontaneous from time o time out of the blue while we're rushing to gt somewhere... it almost always is worthwhile. This place definitely was and we got to walk around with the dog too. It's nice to brake up a trip when you know you'll be driving 10 hours or so!
