I want to visit the Sagrada Familia Again
These are from 2019 when I visited Barcelona for something very special, that at this point in here, maybe only a hand full of people will remember and know what I am talking about. And that was the Dtube Forum!
Make some noise in the comments if you know what I am talking about.
On the day I have visit the Sagrada Familia, I have to be honest I was very hangover and these are not my best photos. I would love to visit again and capture some more photos. But still. It is so beautiful and amazing that even the photos not being the best, it looks so freaking beautiful.
A little bit about the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona
Let me just leave you here a little bit more about the place, the architecture and the history behind it.
The Sagrada Familia is a renowned basilica located in Barcelona, Spain. It is one of the most famous landmarks in the city and an iconic symbol of Barcelona's architecture. The full name of the basilica is Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, which translates to the Basilica and Expiatory Church of the Holy Family.
Designed by the renowned Catalan architect Antoni Gaudí, construction of the Sagrada Familia began in 1882. However, due to various challenges, including Gaudí's death in 1926 and the Spanish Civil War, the basilica remains unfinished to this day. Despite its incomplete status, it attracts millions of visitors each year who are fascinated by its unique architectural style and grandeur.
The Sagrada Familia blends various architectural influences, including Gothic and Art Nouveau elements. Gaudí's vision for the basilica was to create a masterpiece that harmonizes with nature and embodies Christian symbolism. The exterior of the basilica features intricate facades depicting different aspects of the life of Jesus Christ. The interior is equally awe-inspiring, with soaring columns, vibrant stained glass windows, and a sense of organic fluidity.
Visitors to the Sagrada Familia can explore the nave, crypt, and museum, which provide insight into the basilica's history and Gaudí's architectural genius. Additionally, there is an option to ascend the towers, offering panoramic views of Barcelona.
The construction of the Sagrada Familia continues to this day, funded primarily by ticket sales and private donations. The estimated completion date is set for 2026, to coincide with the centennial anniversary of Gaudí's death. However, due to the complexity of the project, this timeline may be subject to change.
Overall, the Sagrada Familia is an architectural marvel and an essential attraction for anyone visiting Barcelona, offering a unique blend of art, spirituality, and cultural significance.
