Welcome! Hello fellow HIVERS! I am back with another blog post. This time, I will be sharing to you my experience when I lived and worked in Thailand.
Thailand is called The City of Smiles. Thai people are shy but when you get to know them, they are very kind and accommodating.
It was 2015 when I arrived in Thailand. I stayed with my brother and his family for a couple of months while looking for a job. After I was hired, I then moved to the accommodation my school had for their teachers.
My first year in Thailand was a bit stressful. I had no friends and not a lot of Thai people can speak English. Even at my school, students have no background in English, even teachers. So, I had to learn their language. I didn’t learn Thai formally though. I just listened to the teachers when they are talking and I would ask them the meaning of the words or sentences that I often hear from them when they talk. Eventually, I was able to speak and understand Thai, but only in a beginner level.
Every year, my school would take the teachers on a trip – and it’s FREE. I am very grateful for that. I was able to visit some places in Thailand for FREE.
These are the places I was able to visit during my stay in Thailand.
1. Chiang Dao, Wat Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is located in Northern Thailand and its home to many Buddhist temples.
2. Wat Tham Pha Plong | Chiang Dao, Chiang Mai
This temple is located on top of the mountain. You need to climb the stairs with 500 steps to be able to reach to the top. It was tiring but worth it because the view at the top was very beautiful. It scared me, though because I am afraid of heights. LOL.😂
The Photo below was taken before we climbed up.
I was holding an umbrella in this photo because it was raining that time. And the weather was cold, so I was wearing a sweatshirt as well.
On our way to the top, there were posts that have sayings on them.
Annnd FINALLY! We reached the top. The view was really breathtaking.
This photo is inside the temple. There is a golden Buddha statue seated on an ornate, multi-tiered altar made of pink marble and there are offerings such as flowers, incense, and candles.
3. Bridge over the River Kwai | Kanchanaburi
This bridge was built as part of the Burma Railway, also called the "Death Railway" because many died during its construction.
4. Khun Dan Prakarn Chon Dam | Nakhon Nayok
This is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Nakhon Nayok province and it is the longest roller-compacted concrete dam in the world.
This project was initiated by His Majesty the King to manage water resources for the people of Nakhon Nayok and surrounding provinces. It is the world’s largest Rolled Compacted Concrete Dam, comprising main dam and minor dam.
Woah! That’s it for this blog post. I missed my second home as I was scrolling my photos. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog.😊 Manifesting that I can visit again Thailand soon.🤞
Thank you so much for reading my blog.🙏 See you on the next one! Love lots.❤️
