Hello dearest friends,
Today, on this rainy day, I'm here to write this post for you. I would like to share with you more photos that I took in the beautiful village of Radicofani in Tuscany, which I have surely already mentioned in other posts. It is super famous for the stunning medieval fortress that stands atop a hill, dominating the village and the surrounding landscape. Lately, I have seen so many of these villages that sometimes I simply forget to share the photos I have taken.
But actually, when I visited this village, I discovered that inside it, there is a romantic garden called Bosco Isabella Romantic Garden. It is practically a kind of botanical garden built in the late 1800s by a famous family that lived there. They wanted to create something that would be in harmony with nature and also wanted to introduce new plant species to create a beautiful botanical garden.
Moreover, inside, there is also a small pyramid connected to certain symbolism. That's why this garden is also referred to as the esoteric garden because this family, who belonged to a Masonic lodge, probably performed esoteric rituals in these places. I must admit that this aspect has intrigued me quite a bit. Unfortunately, like many things in Italy, around 1980, this garden became the property of the municipality of Radicofani, and from the photos I took, you can understand that it is in poor condition. It's always challenging to maintain these places because they require continuous and daily maintenance.
I have often come across, during my trips to Tuscany and my small explorations, places often linked to esotericism. Probably many families were connected to these somewhat occult traditions and the Magic that I have often found in this region. In fact, I hope to have the opportunity to bring more examples and make known other places where these things happened.
However, Radicofani is beautiful as a village because there is always the possibility to immerse oneself in the unspoiled nature that the Tuscan countryside offers. In fact, in the surroundings of the village, there are opportunities for hiking and cycling along panoramic trails. On that very day, I even climbed up to the fortress, and there is precisely the possibility to climb up to the main tower to see a beautiful panorama of the Tuscan countryside.
Basically, the tower I climbed is called the Tower of Ghino, and it is the tallest and most imposing tower of the fortress. It is associated with this character named Ghino Di Tacco, who was a brigand living in these places. According to popular tradition, he stole from the rich to help the poor. That's why he became a symbol of this small village, representing his story.
Naturally, Radicofani is located in the beautiful Val d'Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2004, and it is also a starting point for Tuscan destinations. In fact, you can easily reach Pienza, Montalcino, and Montepulciano, which are famous for their Renaissance architecture and the good wine that can be enjoyed there.
In conclusion, we can confidently state that Radicofani is a beautiful medieval gem in the marvelous region of Tuscany. Its panoramic position and authentic atmosphere fortunately attract visitors from all over the world, and it is definitely a way to learn about the history of that area of Tuscany. By the way, if you find yourself in the area, I recommend making a stop at the thermal baths of San Casciano, an oasis of well-being where you can enjoy rejuvenating spa treatments—an experience that you will definitely need for relaxation and body care.

I agree! The photos of the ancient statues and the romantic garden are truly amazing
The fortress is still very solid and sturdy, or is it better than the rest of us. Maybe you'll find something hidden if you follow the trail of the remaining symbols of Freemasonry.
Absolutely! The fortress stands as a testament to its strength and resilience. Exploring its history and following the trail of symbols can be an intriguing adventure
