Hello dear friends! This post was supposed to be published yesterday, but then I got a little fever and had to delay it until today. Unfortunately, winter is always a problem for me because I get sick often, but I have to push through because the holidays are getting closer. In fact, I'll probably be home starting next week. I can't wait, and I hope to feel a bit better because I want to share with you the new places I’ll be visiting. Hopefully, this time I’ll manage to visit some beautiful Christmas markets, although to be honest, Christmas and all the business related to it don’t really excite me. I’m talking about Certaldo, a beautiful medieval village located in the metropolitan city of Florence, in Tuscany. It’s especially famous because it’s the birthplace and deathplace of the famous poet Giovanni Boccaccio. So, where is Certaldo located? It’s in the beautiful Val d'Elsa and is practically divided into two parts: the upper part, called Certaldo Alto, and the lower part, called Certaldo Basso. The part I recommend visiting, and the one I find more beautiful, is the upper part, Certaldo Alto, which is situated on the hill. It’s characterized by stone buildings and narrow, labyrinthine streets. Of course, if you visit these places during the weekdays, you’ll find very few people. Probably on weekends, there are more tourists, and this can make the place less charming and perhaps more chaotic. However, I find the village to be very well-maintained, very clean, and even has many services, including a few bars, which can be useful if needed. Walking around during this time, as we approach Christmas, I was probably expecting to see more Christmas decorations, maybe a little more festive spirit. As you can see in the photos, there are a few decorations, but not much. However, I must say that the village is beautiful on its own, so extra decorations aren’t really needed. I passed through quite quickly because I didn’t have much time to stop, but I believe there are many interesting things to visit, such as the Palazzo Pretorio, which displays the coats of arms of the noble families that ruled the city, and most notably due to Giovanni Boccaccio. There’s also the Church of Saints Jacob and Philip, where Boccaccio’s tomb is located. This is truly a place where you can experience culture and gastronomy 360 degrees, from my point of view. I hope the photos I shared were interesting, and I hope you get the chance to visit this place in the near future. But for now, you can certainly enjoy my photos. See you in my next post, and I wish you all a great weekend! [//]:# ([//]:# (!worldmappin 43.54841 lat 11.04547 long d3scr))
Anyway, today I wanted to share with you a village that many of you have probably heard of. I've had the chance to visit it many times, and I must say I always enjoy it. As I mentioned in the title, in my opinion, it’s always a guarantee that once you visit, you leave completely satisfied, especially if you're a lover of art and history.
In the end, you only need half a day to explore this place, and let’s not forget that here you can enjoy typical Tuscan cuisine with cured meats, cheeses, and especially fine wines from the surrounding hills.

The history and art sound so interesting, and I can imagine how beautiful it must be to walk through those narrow streets.
