Hello dear friends,

Today, I want to share with you a beautiful exploration I did in a charming Tuscan village. The photos are still from this summer, and I thought I had already shared them along with the experience of this place. However, upon rereading the posts I've shared here, I realized that I had forgotten about this beautiful spot in Tuscany. In my opinion, it's a shame not to share such a place, especially because there's an interesting castle to see.

I'm talking about Porciano, a hamlet of the municipality of Pratovecchio in the province of Arezzo. I want to provide some more useful tourist information. This place is approximately 40 kilometers from Arezzo and can be reached in about an hour via Provincial Road 1. I mention this because most tourists usually visit Arezzo, but there might be other hidden gems worth exploring.

I didn't take many photos of this place, but undoubtedly, the most interesting attraction is Porciano Castle, a beautiful fortress built around 1300 that offers a stunning view of the surrounding countryside. Tuscany is renowned for its beautiful landscapes, especially in terms of countryside.

One noteworthy aspect is that this castle is said to have been significant for Dante Alighieri. It is rumored, though unconfirmed, that he wrote many of his works here. So, it's not just architecturally significant but also holds cultural importance. Dante Alighieri, as we know, traveled extensively across Italy, and his works were written during his wanderings in exile.

I forgot to mention that the castle is open to visitors, but unfortunately, it's not always accessible. It seems to be managed by volunteers who open it on certain occasions, and admission is based on a voluntary donation, so there's no fixed price.

When I couldn't enter the castle, I explored the surrounding village. There are beautiful, challenging steep streets. One must be physically fit to live in such places. I only saw elderly residents, so life here might be quite challenging, given that the village is perched on a hill.

Another piece of advice, if I may, is not to visit these places in July and August because it gets extremely hot. As you can see from a photo I shared, they even installed an air conditioner inside the church because it gets incredibly hot during these summer months. It's not just the temperature but also the high humidity that can be uncomfortable.

Nevertheless, I hope to have contributed to discovering this place – small and intimate, yet unique for understanding the culture and traditions that endure. If I get the chance, I'll come back, maybe to capture more interesting photos. Thank you very much for the affection you always show under my posts. I wish you all a beautiful day.
