Hello dearest friends,
Today, I want to share with you a place that I actually visited some time ago, but as usual, due to work, I couldn’t stop to take my usual walk. You know how much I love to share information and photos with you about these places, so since I found myself just a few kilometers from this beautiful village, I thought I’d spend some time wandering its streets, observing, and photographing the unique details of this charming location.
Let’s talk about the village of Seggiano, located in the province of Grosseto, at about 490 meters above sea level. It’s a small village nestled among olive groves at the foot of Monte Amiata. Like other places I’ve introduced here in the community, this one has Etruscan origins, as archaeological finds have been uncovered in the surrounding areas.
Today, the village has a population of fewer than a thousand inhabitants, although it covers quite a large area. Unfortunately, like many other rural places, its population is declining year after year.
As you approach the village, you can see it from the road, and from the village itself, you’re treated to stunning views of the surrounding forests. This area is known for its rich production of olive oil, thanks to the numerous olive trees, as well as chestnuts due to its extensive woodlands.
With the beautiful panorama you see in the photo, I began my walk to discover this enchanting place. I also had the chance to visit the beautiful Church of San Bartolomeo, the main church of the village.
I was struck by the deep spirituality of the residents, as you could occasionally spot small shrines for devotion in some of the homes. Some houses are for sale, so if you’re considering moving to a peaceful place immersed in nature, this could be the perfect moment for you to make the leap.
As I continued, I came across magnificent cats along my path. But what impressed me the most was the architecture of this place. As always, the streets weave through every corner and make use of every bit of space.
These splendid little streets alternated with lovely squares where you could enjoy the scenery. Even today, some children take advantage of these open spaces to play soccer.
In conclusion, I can say that wandering through these streets was truly fascinating. Time here seems to stand still, offering a quality of life far removed from the rush of modern times.
I hope you found my photos interesting, and as always, I hope that one day you can visit this place. It’s definitely off the beaten tourist path, but worth the journey. See you in my next post, and I wish you all a great start to the week!
