Archives of an old trip to London - Part 2[ENG-SPA]

in Worldmappinlast year (edited)

Hello to all the community! I hope you are well, today as promised, I continue with the second part of this short trip to London, that I made some time ago, when I was still living in Europe.

In this second chapter I'm going to show you some pictures of central London and some of the West End.

I had never visited London before, so any place and situation was more than welcome, when I travel besides a minimum of organization and planning, I enjoy a lot to let myself be carried away by the events and situations that arise.
That morning for example from a wrong exit of the subway, I got to know the famous Tower Bridge and Tower Hill area.

As there was no chance to get a good picture of the bridge from that perspective, I concentrated on getting a good view of the place and I found a few steps away the famous Tower of London, one of the best preserved medieval castles in the world.

Although known primarily as a place of confinement and execution, over the years this castle also served as a palace, mint, archive, armory, barracks and royal zoo.

The images above are of the Tower Hill Sundial, designed by architect John Chitty and sculptor Edwin Russell. It is located in front of Tower Hill tube station. Commissioned by London Underground Ltd, it was built in bronze and stone, it is circumscribed by a bronze band with bas-relief sculptures illustrating 2000 years of London's transport history between 1066 and 1982.

After noon we headed towards the West End and decided to visit Hyde Park, this huge green lung of 145 hectares of extension, which contains emblematic places such as Speaker Corner, the northeast corner of the park, where is the only point in Great Britain where it is not necessary the authorization of the police to meet in assembly.

Its endless walks amidst towering trees, ponds and large lawns make this park a unique place, where you can forget for a few moments the frenetic and chaotic reality of the city. With the passing of the afternoon there are numerous families who gather to enjoy the park.

I will close this post with two interesting sculptures that I saw during that day, the feline is located in the area of the Tower of London and as far as I could see are made with metal elements, as a kind of metal mesh, about the other sculpture, the horse head, I could get more information on site, and it is a work called Still Water by the artist Nic Fiddian-Green, made of bronze and has a height of 10 meters.

Dear members, thank you for taking the time to view this brief history of this little trip to London.
These are very important memories for me, because as a professional tattoo artist, it was my first visit to the London Tattoo Convention, although it was not a working trip, it was very exciting to see this world up close, where at that time I was slowly getting into.

Thanks again for following me on this trip, see you soon, take care!
