Welcome everyone to the beginning of a new journey. In the middle of April, I was sitting at home and thinking about where I should go on a trip. During my travels, I sometimes meet interesting people, and many of them told me that they just left the house and walked along the nearest hiking trail, or in some direction. I've been playing with this idea for a while and it was in April that I thought of implementing this plan. I looked at my map where I record the points where I've been and found that I haven't traveled much southwest of Prague. And several long-distance roads lead in this direction. Two are called St. Jacob's and gradually lead to Santiago de Compostela. But since I'm not religious, I didn't feel like going on these trips. So I chose the third option. Which is called Husova cesta (Jan Hus Trail). This trail follows the last journey of Jan Hus from Prague to Constance. Jan Hus was a Czech priest who in his time criticized the Catholic Church for not following Jesus Christ enough and getting rich at the expense of ordinary people. Like selling indulgences for sins. Jan Hus went to the Council of Constance to explain his actions, but was accused of heresy by the papacy and was burned at the stake in 1415. This journey begins at the home church of Jan Hus on Betlémské náměstí in Prague. So let's see what I saw on this trip.
Vítejte všichni na začátku nové cesty. V polovině dubna jsem se seděl doma a přemýšlel kam bych vyrazil na výlet. Při svých cestách občas potkávám zajímavé lidi a spousta z nich mi vyprávěla, že jen tak vyrazili z domu a šli po nejbližší turistické stezce, nebo nějakým směrem. Pohrával jsem si s touto myšlenkou nějakou dobu a právě v dubnu mě napadlo tento plán realizovat. Kouknul jsem do mojí mapy kam si zaznamenávám body kde jsem byl a zjistil, že nemám moc prochozen jihozápad od Prahy. A právě tímto směrem vede hned několik dálkových cest. Dvě nesou název svatojakubská a postupně vedou do Santiago de Compostela. Ale vzhledem, že nejsem věřící tak jsem se na tyto cesty necítil. Zvolil jsem tedy třetí možnost. Která se jmenuje Husova cesta. Tato stezka sleduje poslední cestu Jana Husa z Prahy do Kostnice. Jan Hus byl český kněz, který ve své době kritizoval katolickou církev za to, že dostatečně nenásleduje Ježíše Krista a bohatne na úkor běžných lidí. Jako třeba prodejem odpustků za hříchy. Jan Hus se vydal na koncil do Kostnice, aby vysvětlil své počínání, ale byl papežem obviněn z kacířství a byl v roce 1415 upálen. Tato cesta začíná u domovského kostela Jana Husa na Betlémském náměstí v Praze. Tak se pojďme podívat co jsem viděl na této cestě.
Betlémské náměstí is a small square in the district called Staré město. Where it is relatively quiet compared to other squares and you can play table tennis here on pink mobile tables. Or visit the home church of Jan Hus, which is called Betlémská kaple (Bethlehem Chapel).
Betlémské náměstí je malé náměstí na ve čtvrti nazývané Staré město. Kde je oproti jiným náměstím relativní klid a můžete si zde třeba zahrát stolní tenis na růžových mobilních stolech. Nebo navštívit domovský kostel Jana Husa, který nese název Betlémská kaple.
From the square, a direct street leads to the Vltava river, where the famous panoramas of Prague will open up to you.
Z náměstí vede přímá ulice k řece Vltavě, kde se Vám otevřou známá Pražská panoramata.
The path leads against flow of the river and will take you to another monument on the river bank. To the National Theatre. Here I tried to capture the struggle of the old with the new. As a native of Prague, it just seems to me that these two buildings belong together.
Cesta vede proti proudu řeky a zavede Vás k dalšímu monumentu na břehu řeky. K národnímu divadlu. Zde jsem se snažil zachytit boj starého s novým. Jako rodilému pražanovi my prostě přijde, že tyto dvě budovy patří k sobě.
The trail continues, passes the island of Žofín and reaches another interesting building called Mánes. Which was originally a mill building, but in the first half of the 20th century it was converted into an exhibition gallery.
Stezka pokračuje dále, mine ostrov Žofín a dostane se k další zajímavé budově s názvem Mánes. Což původně bývala budova mlýnů, ale v první polovině 20. století byla přestavěna na výstavní galerii.
On that day, a special tram bearing the name Tatra T3 Coupé, which is a regular tram converted into a sightseeing tram, also drove through Prague. Tatra T3 Coupé
Toho dne se Prahou proháněla i speciální tramvaj nesoucí název Tatra T3 Coupé, což je přestavěná běžná tramvaj na výletní.
Czechs like art of all kinds. And when it comes to street art, they can be surprisingly humorously inventive. Like in this case, for example. Someone planted a rosemary plant in an unused space and added a text with a Prague song. The text is in that sense. "Rosemary grows on that bridge in Prague, nobody waters it, it grows here. When I come here I will water it. She turns green, I will tear her".
Češi mají rádi umění všeho druhu. A pokud jde o pouliční umění, dokážou být i překvapivě vtipně vynalézaví. Třeba jako v tomto případě. Někdo do nevyužívaného místa zasadil rostlinu rozmarýnu a přidal k tomu text s jednou pražskou písní.
Further along the river we reach Tančící dům (Dancing house) and this is the place where most tourists get to. Further towards south, there are mostly only locals.
Dále podél řeky se dostaneme k Tančícímu domu a to je místo kam se většina turistů dostane. Dále směrem na jih jsou již většinou jen místní.
Náplavka, as the embankment along the Vltava River is called, is quite often full, as it is a sought-after place to relax by the river in the center of the city. Saturdays are especially busy because of the farmer's markets.
Náplavka jak nábřeží podél Vltavy říká bývá dosti často plná, protože je to vyhledávané místo k relaxaci u řeky v centru města. V sobotu zde bývá obzvlášť plno, protože zde jsou farmářské trhy.
The last bridge in the center of Prague is a railway bridge and it is called that accordingly. And it will probably be demolished because maintenance has been neglected and repair would be too expensive, it is said.
Poslední most v centru Prahy je most železniční a podle toho se mu také tak říká. A pravděpodobně bude zdemolován, protože se zanedbávala údržba a oprava by byla prý příliš nákladná.
At the end of Náplavka there are several houses built in the Cubist style. Which is unique in the world.
Na konci Náplavky je několik domů postavených v Kubistickém stylu. Což je světový unikát.
You have to go through a tunnel under the Vyšehradská skála (Vyšehrad rock) and you will appear in a quarter called Podolí.
Pod Vyšehradskou skálou je třeba projít tunelem a objevíte se ve čtvrti se jménem Podolí.
Here I start a completely different world. There are several yacht clubs with wooden architecture.
Zde začínám úplně jiný svět. Je zde několik jachtařských klubů s dřevěnou architekturou.
Or, for example, the Prague Waterworks opened in 1929. It is still functional and there is also a museum of waterworks.
Nebo třeba Pražská vodárna otevřená v roce 1929. Která je stále funkční a je zde i muzeum vodárenství.
Podolská nábřeží Street is lined with trees. I planted some 9 years ago and it can be seen that they are doing well here.
Ulice Podolské nábřeží je lemována stromy. Jež některé jsem před 9 lety vysazoval a je vidět, že se jim zde daří dobře.
The waterworks building is simply beautiful, despite the fact that it is an industrial building.
Budova vodárny je prostě překrásná i přesto, že se jedná o průmyslovou budovu.
And the last building we will visit today is the swimming stadium. Which was opened in 1965 and is also architecturally unique in its shape.
A poslední budovu, kterou dnes navštívíme je plavecký stadión. Který byl otevřem v roce 1965 a taktéž je architektonicky unikátní svým tvarem.

From the first stage, we covered only 4.1 kilometers and visited a lot of interesting places. Therefore, I will divide the first stage into two parts. In the next part, we will look more into the peripheral parts of Prague. See you next time.
Z první etapy jsme urazili jen 4.1 kilometru a navštívili jsme spoustu zajímavých míst. Proto první etapu rozdělím do dvou dílů. Příštím díle se podíváme více do okrajových částí Prahy. Uvidíme se příště.
Santiago je náhodou super, a spousta lidí, kteří si nějakou z tras střihnou, nejsou věřící. Rozhodně doporučuju, taky ji máme v plánu. Zatím jsem prošel jen pár náhodných úseků jedné z těch nejstarších tras.
V průběhu tohohle výletu jsem se dostal do Norimberka odkud se do Kostnice pokračuje také po jedné z tras. Takže se jí nevyhnu :) Škoda, že jsem musel včera cestu přerušit kvůli počasí. Nechtěl jsem skončit někde uprostřed záplav.
Myslím, že se to počítá až z Francie, případně z Portugalska, pokud jdeš jižní trasou.
Taková ta nejznámější co se běžně chodí vede z Francie, nebo Portugalska. Ale ty nejvíce věřící to chodí z místa bydliště. Takže pokud bydlíš v Praze, dostaneš se podle značení mušle až do Santiaga.
Jop, vím. Z Prahy vede cesta od kostela Sv. Jakuba Menšího, tedy Santiaga ;)
I also sit at home and think in the same way that we should go to any beautiful place, but sometimes when we have money, we friends go, otherwise we have to wait for a long time. The places with the view are very special and beautiful, one gets refreshed by going here.
I am lucky to live in such a nice city as Prague. Most of my trips are very low-cost because I don't need to stay in a hotel or eat in a restaurant.
