Come join me on a field trip to an Amul Plant - Sabar dairy, Rohtak, India. Spurring the white revolution in India.

in Worldmappin2 years ago

My college was organizing a field trip to an Amul plant about 100 miles from the college. I filled out a form and got the opportunity to visit the plant. It was far from the college so we had to leave early. The college had arranged a bus for us to travel and go together. We got together in the morning at 9:00 AM and then boarded the bus to visit the Amul Plant.

It took us around 2 hours to reach the plant. During the journey, we played some wonderful music and jammed some Bollywood hits. We had an amazing time on the bus and the 2 hours passed so easily.

We reached early in the afternoon hours. Just when we entered the plant, we could see huge containers and pieces of machinery. We were taken to a conference room where we watched a documentary about Amul and its mission. After that, they were open to questions, and we asked them about the company, its objectives, goals, and mission.

After the Q&A was over, they gave us some free samples from their wide range of dairy products. They gave us some samples and then explained how each of their products was made. Then they took us for a tour around the whole plant. Trust me, this was the most interesting part of the entire trip. They took us through the process of how things were made at the grass-root level.

They showed us how to collect milk from farmers, process it into various dairy products, package it, and then distribute it to small retailers all across the country. The entire process was very interesting, and it blew our minds to get to know the exact scale of operations that took place at the plant. The picture below shows the various products processed and dispatched in a single day.

It satiated our curiosity, and we got to learn a lot. After having a tour of the whole place, we had our lunch at the plant and then we boarded the bus back to the college again. It was a good day!
