As I asked some people there they said that the church was finished in 1848 and has a very old and charming feel. As I got closer, I thought about the people who built it with their hands and those who used to gather there. I can tell that the design of the church shows a strong Spanish influence, and it reminds me of our country’s history. Every stone felt like it had its own story to tell.
The bell tower caught my eye right away as I saw it. It leans a little but still stands strong after so many years. The red dome on top added a nice touch of color. From a distance, the tower looked like it was quietly watching over the town and the sea.
As I am walking inside the church, I felt peace right away. The wooden benches led to a grand altar decorated with statues and other religious items. You know, the high ceiling and chandeliers made the place feel both big and welcoming. I could smell candles burning, and the sound of soft prayers made everything feel calm and holy.
As I walked around, I noticed the thick walls made of coral stone. The stones were carved carefully, showing the hard work of the builders. These walls are very strong and were made to last a long time. Touching them, I felt connected to the people from the past who built and visited this church.
Then, also the courtyard around the church was very quiet and relaxing. There were big trees that gave shade, and there were benches where people could sit and think. Also, the mountains in the distance made the area even more beautiful. I sat there for a while, just enjoying the peace.
My visit was more than just a trip, it felt like a spiritual experience. This church reminded me of how strong my faith can be. Even after so many years, it’s still a place where people come to pray and find peace. You can reflect about the place too.
Next to the church, I saw the Cuartel ruins, an old building that was never finished. It added to the historic feel of the area. Together with the church, it gave me a picture of how life might have been in the past.
As I left, I felt so thankful for the chance to visit this beautiful church. It’s not just a historical spot, it’s a quiet place where people can reflect. If you ever want to visit Cebu, make sure to visit this church in Oslob. It’s realy worth seeing for its history, faith, and peaceful beauty.
