InterContinental Da Nang Pennisula Resort (P1)

in Worldmappin2 years ago (edited)

Last Friday, I had the opportunity to visit and learn about one of the most famous resorts in Vietnam. That is InterContinental Da Nang Sun Peninsula Resort, also known as InterContinental Da Nang. I'm certain everyone has heard , known, or even set foot on there.

This is a resort with a lot of special things in it. Especially from geography, architecture, and services.

First , I will talk about geographical location. This hotel is surrounded by mountains on Son Tra Peninsula - which is completely separate from Da Nang city. The resort far from the city center is about 13km, 30 minutes by car, about 22km from Da Nang central airport.

The road from the foot of Son Tra Peninsula to the InterContinental Danang is also very beautiful, with one side of the cliffs, the other side is the sea, which makes many tourists very excited because they can see the mountains and cliffs. Sometimes there are groups of young people going camping, or a few couples taking wedding photos. And it's not uncommon to see monkeys running across the street.

The view towards the sea, you can feel the beauty of the sea when saw from above, blue sea, sometimes you can see the rocky beaches peeking below, on the sea surface are ships, far away can see the city.

On the way you will pass a very famous temple in Da Nang, that is Linh Ung Pagoda - This temple is a very sacred place for the people of Da Nang. It is believed that when the big storms strick on the city, they will change direction or weaken as they make landfall.

InterContinental Danang has been in operation for 11 years now, a journey that is not too long but enough for this place to create its own brand and bring home great prizes.

Especially, this place has been honored for 3 consecutive years in an important category in the system of awards of the World Travel Awards (2014-2016).
The person who contributed to creating the masterpiece Intercontinental Da Nang is the British architect, Bill Bensley, known as "the sorcerer of resorts". Before start to design for InterContinental Danang, he spent 2 months living in Vietnam to learn and experience about the unique history, culture and architecture here. And the Hue royal architecture really impressed him.

Bill Bensley always keeps to himself the principle of keeping the pristine nature of nature when designing InterContinental Danang. He brought the ancient direction of Hue royal court mixed with modernity into the resort's architecture.

The multi-layer yin and yang tile roof has a Vietnamese Buddhist direction. The bamboo frame of the lantern in Hoi An town gave him inspiration to design the black ones hanging in the reception and restaurants area.

Resort with the main design consists of 4 floors Heaven, Sky, Earth and Sea, in order from top to bottom, embracing the North beach of Son Tra Peninsula. The first, the resort consisted of 201 suites, but now the number of rooms is 198 rooms because it is upgrading and building independent villas for guests who prefer privacy.

All suites have sea view. Seen from above, the resort itself looks like a heaven rising up in the middle of the wild mountains. A magnificent, unique beauty that cannot be fully felt in a short time.

There is a special thing when entering the lobby, we will see the image of 8 pineapples made entirely of copper displayed in the lobby. Because in the opinion of the Eastern people, the number 8 symbolizes luck, respect and hospitality.

When going to any place in the resort, you can hear the familiar greeting from the staff or even the tourists greeting each other with a "Xin Chao". This saying represents hospitality, closeness, politeness - That is the message that the saying wants to send to visitors.

The architecture inside the hotel is mainly 2 main colors: Black and white symbolizing the harmony of yin and yang. Sometimes the yellow color symbolizing the king is still integrated into some rooms or restaurants. The green color symbolizes freshness and freshness like the mountains surrounding the resort.

If you stay here, you can often be visited by cute monkeys in your room. Guests before check-in will be instructed by the staff on how to handle monkeys, that is visitor should not look for their food, this will reduce their natural survival ability.

Architect Bill Benslay once intended to cut off the resort's wifi, because he wanted customers to be completely relaxed, integrated with nature without being dominated by external social networks.

This is the first part of my article about InterContinental Da Nang, in part 2, I will share more information and experience i have had visiting here.
