Weekend in San Nicolás de los Arroyos - Argentina [ENG|ESP]

in Worldmappin2 years ago (edited)

Hello friends of Hiver, I hope you enjoyed your weekend. On our way back from Buenos Aires to Rosario we decided to stop in a small town called San Nicolás de los Arroyos, where my husband's father lived for many years and where his uncles and cousins still live. It is a very beautiful city on the banks of the Paraná River, with colonial architecture and cobblestone streets that you will fall in love with.

The green, water and outdoor spaces are present everywhere, even in the center of the city there are many trees, there is a square called Mitre surrounded by the oldest buildings, and is connected to the waterfront and the old ports by a staircase that has been decorated in a very creative way with live walls and a painting hearts that is a beauty.
Since we arrived in Argentina we like to go out walking a lot as we get to know and discover wonderful places, San Nicolas is perfect to go out without plans, buy some "empanadas", a bottle of wine and do some sightseeing. It is perfect to go out without plans, buy some "empanadas", a bottle of wine and have a picnic in one of its squares, or go to its beaches to enjoy the atmosphere.

It has a long waterfront that starts just down the stairs in front of the Mitre square that I mentioned, it is a beautiful walk that runs along the river and reaches an eco-park, the tour can be done on city bikes or walking.
In addition, there are several places to practice water sports such as kayaking, windsurfing and sport fishing along the San Nicolás waterfront. There is also a beach where you can swim and sunbathe, but you will probably be as surprised as I was when a giant ship suddenly appears in the river before your eyes hahaha, it is something that never ceases to amaze me.

Another structure that fascinated me was the Sanctuary Maria del Rosario de San Nicolas, a beautiful building on a hill overlooking the river, the sanctuary was built after an avocation of the Virgin, so the people are very religious and believers. Once a year the city is filled with parishioners from all over the region, turning the anniversary of the Virgin into a big party.

The last night in the city there was a festival for the arrival of autumn where there was live music, food truck food and lots of craft beer, and the family tells us that at least once a month the area of the waterfront becomes a great fair for the enjoyment of all.
Being only an hour's drive from Rosario, we are sure that we will return many times to enjoy the fairs and the family.

San Nicolas looks like some cities in Vietnam. But the atmosphere over there at the weekend is so peaceful in comparison to some big cities in my country. You must have enjoyed your weekend.

Thank you, I enjoyed it very much. It is always relaxing to spend family time outdoors.

siempre hermosas tus fotos...
