Donations for the Waraos
After breakfast we went straight to organize the donations that we had all brought for the indigenous people of the Waraos ethnic group in Venezuela, I was very happy to see lots of clothes, toys, food and even items for babies like a playpen, we started by separating the clothes according to sex and age, it was a work of about two hours that was done quickly between all of us.
Donaciones para los Waraos
Después de desayunar nos fuimos directo a organizar las donaciones que todos habíamos traído para los indígenas de la etnia Waraos en Venezuela, sentí mucha alegría a ver cantidades de ropa, juguetes, comida y hasta artículos para bebes como un corral cuna, se comenzó por la separación de ropa según el sexo y la edad, fue una labor de unas dos horas que entre todos se hizo rápido.
Some of the indigenous families were curious to see what was going to be given away, the barefoot children could not hide their desire to wear shoes for the first time. Among the things that were donated were shoes for girls about 3 years old, they were small and a line was formed of all the girls, they were nervous, they wanted those used shoes, but in good condition, only one was the lucky one, the others returned sad and left me just like them, sad.
Algunas de las familias indígenas se asomaban con curiosidad para ver que cosas se iban a regalar, los niños descalzos no podían disimular las ganas de usar zapatos por primera vez. Entre las cosas que se donaron iban zapatos de niñas como de 3 años, era chiquitos y se formó una fila de todas las niñas, ellas estaban nerviosas, querían esos zapatos usados, pero en buen estado, solo una fue la afortunada, las demás se devolvían tristes y me dejaban a mi igual que ellas, triste.
With everything collected we left in three boats to visit all the families in their palafitos, (name of the houses that are built with wooden bases on lakes and rivers) Everywhere we were received with such joy and allowed us to enter into their lives, talking to them and asking questions some a little indiscreet by tourists, not all speak Spanish, but if there is a good percentage that understands it. They are very kind, humble people who wait for visitors in the hope of getting a little food, clothes, among other things.
I fondly remember Carolina, one of the last indigenous families we visited and we were all exhausted from the activity and no one wanted to get off, we were just waiting to give her some of the donations and go to lunch, when she with her simplicity shouted, "get off, we are not tigers, no one is going to eat you, I want to meet you! that gesture of cordiality invaded us and we all got off the lachas and entered their palafito, we met their children and spent a time as pleasant as any, they sang to us and played four a Venezuelan stringed instrument, that in the next publications I will show a video of the indigenous musician and his song in their language.
After meeting many families, it was time to have lunch in a magical place, literally inside the Orinoco River, in a space called the little beach, that is, the small beach, and there people can bathe because there is a shallow sector and the bottom of the river is soft and clean sand, the river waters are dark, but it is not that it is dirty, or that it is a mud river, nothing like that, its pigmentation is dark because of the minerals and rocks that are in it. The Orinoco is a deep river with internal currents and one of the most important in the world.
Con todo recogido salimos en tres lanchas a visitar todas las familias en sus palafitos, (nombre de las casas que son construidas con bases de madera sobre lagos y ríos) En todas partes nos recibían con tanta alegría y nos permitían entrar en sus vidas, al hablarles y hacerles preguntas algunas un poco indiscretas por parte de los turistas, no todos hablan español, pero si hay un buen porcentaje que lo entiende. Son personas muy amables, humildes que esperan a los visitantes con la esperanza de obtener un poco de comida, ropa, entre otras cosas.
Con cariño recuerdo a Carolina, una de las indígenas de las últimas familias que visitamos ya todos estábamos agotados de la actividad y nadie quería bajarse solo esperábamos entregarle algo de las donaciones e irnos a almorzar, cuando ella con su sencillez grito, ¡bájense, no somos tigres nadie se los va a comer, yo los quiero conocer!, ese gesto de cordialidad nos invadió y todos nos bajamos de las lachas y entramos a su palafito, conocimos a sus hijos pasamos un rato tan ameno como ninguno, nos cantaron y tocaron cuatro un instrumento de cuerda venezolano, que en las próximas publicaciones mostraré un video del músico indígena y de su canción en su lengua.
Después de conocer muchas familias, llego la hora de almorzar en un lugar mágico, literalmente dentro del río Orinoco, en un espacio que llaman la playita, es decir, la playa pequeña, y allí las personas se pueden bañar porque hay un sector de poca profundidad y el fondo del río es de arena suave y limpia, las aguas del río se ven oscuras, pero no es que esté sucio, ni que sea un río de lodo, nada de eso, su pigmentación es oscura por los minerales y las rocas que están en él. El Orinoco es un río es profundo de corrientes internas y uno de los más importantes del mundo.
The River Beach
On the beach of the Orinoco River we spent several hours having fun, posing like top models and playing with each other, we also had the privilege of swimming with the toninas which are mammals similar to dolphins, only they have a flat snout and their skin is pale pink, these animals are in the process of extinction, they are beautiful and slippery, they jump out of the water very fast and it was impossible to take pictures or record them, I only have the memory of their juggling on the water.
La playa del Río
En la playita del río Orinoco pasamos varias horas divirtiéndonos, haciendo poses como top models y jugando entre nosotros, además tuvimos el privilegio de nadar con las toninas que son unos mamíferos parecidos a los delfines, solo que tienen el hocico chato y su piel es de color rosado pálido, estos animales están en proceso de extinción, son hermosos y escurridizos saltan del agua muy rápido y fue imposible tomarles fotografías o grabarlas, solo me queda el recuerdo de sus malabarismos sobre el agua.

Me gustaría mucho, pero este año no creo que regrese. Había pensado comprar estas cholitas plásticas para ellos, tanto niños como adultos andan descalzos pero es porque no tienen.
Se pueden comprar y desde Maracay las hago llegar a la dueña de la empresa de viaje. En junio sale el próximo viaje, creo que va cada tres meses, de todas formas sirve cualquier cosas que este en buen estado. Muchas gracias @coquicoin.
