Holy places in India is not only about pligrimge worxhip site, but also other places too that have historical stories and aspect attached to them. In the long list of such places one such place is Sandipani Aashram.
The term Ashram is very common nowadays as many people from far off places are directing towards India in look out for Ashram.
Ashram has been associated with Indian history since many ages. It is actually a place where people go on spiritual or religious teachings. In earlier times, these aashrams provides the basic learnings to many children. These aashram were run and managed by sages. Nowadays days you often find many Yoga teachers visiting ashram to learn more about the practice and also to meditate. sandipani ashram is one such places where Lord Krishna studied under sage sandipani.
This is also the teaching place of Sudama ji (krishna close friend) and his brother Balram ji. As per some holy books and Bhagwad Geeta, they have studied here for 64 days. And learned about 64 different Vidyas. Historical evidences found at this site by the archaelogical team also confirms to be of more than 3000 years old. And the same were clearly depicted at the entrance gate.
This place holds a special significance for KLord Krishna devotee. They used to visit at this place, for offering prayers and also in search of the lord. Ypu will a different feeling once you get inside the aashram. Now with the passage of time , people have built a temple inside the compound in the memory of sage Sandipani, the teacher who imparted learning to Lord Krishna.
It is quite a peaceful place, just like the way it supposed to be in earlier times. A big compound right at the entrance, which might be buzzing with kids during g those era. Now it is like people just strolling to in the ground.
You're were tenples and other learning manuscript displayed inside the compound. The fountain where Lord Krishna used to wash her writingbpad has now turned to be fountain.
It was a short visit last year, and I really liked the way people offering their respect. More interestingly is the history that is associated with the places that fascinates people to take walk down the line whenever visit Ujjain.
