Sure, they may be big and strong but essentially pretty humble. Over generations they have learned to stick together for safety in numbers, so they are most comfortable in following others. And as far as being nervous, I'm sure they realize it, just like a dog or a child would. I don't think they would behave differently, but being on the edge does make everyone a bit uncomfortable and prone to accidents. It's best to be relaxed and safe.
