Assisi is one of those places that look like a movie setting or as if I had traveled back in time a few hundred years. The old town, situated on a hill, delights with its narrow, cobbled streets that wind between stone houses. The buildings are rather connected, one after another in rows. They have warm, sandy colors, and their facades are often overgrown with vines, grass, you can find a lot of flowers in pots and beautiful shutters, as in Italy.. Above it all, the towers of the churches and the Rocca Maggiore castle dominate, from where there is a view of the green valleys of Umbria. Walking along the streets, which are very crowded as usual during the holidays, you can smell the various delicacies to eat in open places, mainly selling pizzas, sweet desserts. Local shops offer handmade souvenirs, a lot of wooden carvings, clothes, necklaces, bracelets. Many alleys end with small squares with a crossroads, fountains, a place where you can sit on stone benches.
Sunlight reflects off the walls of light stone, giving the whole place a warm, golden hue. Everything is made of stone, so walking on a sunny day it is really hot.
There is no shortage of historical gems - the Basilica of St. Francis, various frescoes and paintings painted on the facades of local residents, most often these are paintings of Mary. The streets tell a story from centuries ago, creating a unique atmosphere, like from a film story about old times, only cars do not fit here, which often enter these narrow roads and traffic is blocked, these are most often local residents, tourists are probably not allowed to enter in their vehicles.

Stare miasteczko, położone na wzgórzu, zachwyca wąskimi, brukowanymi uliczkami, które wiją się między kamiennymi domami. Budynki są raczej połączone, jeden za drugim w rzędach. Mają ciepłe, piaskowe barwy, a ich elewacje często porastają pnącza, trawy, można spotkać dużo kwiatów w donicach i piękne okiennice, jak to w Włoszech.. Nad wszystkim górują wieże kościołów i zamku Rocca Maggiore, skąd rozpościera się widok na zielone doliny Umbrii.
Spacerując uliczkami, w których jak to w wakacje jest bardzo tłoczno, można poczuć zapach różnych smakołyków do jedzenia w otwartych lokalach, głównie sprzedają pizze, kanapki na ciepło, desery na słodko. Lokalne sklepiki oferują ręcznie robione pamiątki, sporo drewnianych rzeź, odzieży, naszyjników, bransoletek. Wiele zaułków kończy się niewielkimi placykami ze skrzyżowaniem, fontannami, miejscem, gdzie można sobie usiąść na kamiennych ławkach.
Światło słoneczne odbija się od murów z jasnego kamienia, nadając całemu miejscu ciepły, złocisty odcień. Wszystko jest w kamieniu więc chodząc słonecznym dniem jest naprawdę gorąco.
Nie brakuje historycznych perełek – Bazylika św. Franciszka, różne freski i obrazy malowane na frontach lokalnych mieszkańców, najczęściej są to obrazy Maryi. Ulice opowiadają historię sprzed wieków, tworząc niepowtarzalny klimat, jak z filmowej opowieści o dawnych czasach, jedynie nie pasują tutaj auta, które często wjeżdżają na te wąskie drogi i koruje się ruch, są to najczęściej lokalni mieszkańcy, turyści chyba mają zakaz wjazdu swoim pojazdem.
