The tower you can see on the right is the Nelson Monument. It's a commemorative tower in honour of Vice Admiral Horatio Nelson.
Nelson defeated Napoleon Bonaparte at the Battle of Trafalgar on October 21, 1805. Which is even more impressive as it was not just the French but also the Spanish fleets that he hammered and kept the UK free.
