During times of stress, taking some time to relax is essential. We made the decision to travel to Siquijor a week ago. It is a province that is found on an island in the Central Visayas region. It is only a short distance away from Dumaguete. Cambugahay Falls, which can be found in Lazi, Siquijor, is widely regarded as the island's most popular tourist destination. It is a three-tiered waterfall, but the "Tarzan Swing" or the part where you swing from the rope is the highlight of the experience.
Location: Cambugahay Falls, Siquijor
We arrived around eight in the morning, and a large number of other people were already there. If you want to avoid the crowd, you should get there as early as possible because they open at 7 in the morning.
You will be required to list your names as soon as you arrive at the entrance of Cambugahay Falls; however, there is no charge to enter the place. Because we wanted to take pictures and learn as much as possible about the area, we decided to hire a tour guide who could also act as our photographer. They do not have a set rate, and you are free to contribute any amount. Our tour guide provided us with a thorough explanation of the location, and he has a very pleasant demeanor. It will take you approximately 4-5 minutes to reach the falls if you walk using the stairs and it will take you that long. It is a challenge, but the results are well worth the effort.
As soon as you arrive, you will notice that the falls are made up of three different levels of waterfalls. We came to the conclusion that the tallest waterfalls, those that offer rope swinging and bamboo rafting, should be our first destination. Additionally, the water is extremely frigid. The locals there are known for their warm hospitality, and they are easy to approach as well. Thanks to kuya tour guide for our couple picture. Hahaha.
John decided to go on the Tarzan swing, which only costs 20 pesos ($0.4) to try out. On the swing, there will be an attendant who will help you through the motions and show you how to do it correctly. John appeared to be having a great time based on the number of times he swung. The images were captured from the video that was being shown. It was a good time.
If you get hungry or thirsty, there are food stalls selling drinks, grilled bananas, hotdogs, and barbecue. We decided to eat there for breakfast and spent about 170 pesos ($3.4).
Following that, we decided to try the bamboo raft. Only 20 pesos per person ($0.4). Thank you to our tour guide for taking these lovely photos. They will capture many angles! If you're going to be there, you should do it. The water is extremely refreshing. They can also record video like a drone!
Before heading back, John attempted the rope swing into the biggest tier of waterfalls. You only have to pay 20 pesos ($0.4). It's higher than the first one he tried. He only made two swings. Nonetheless, he enjoyed it, but he preferred the first one.
We had a great time at Cambugahay Falls, especially because the people are so friendly and the water is so refreshing. Don't forget to tip your tour guide; for our 1 hour and 30 minute trip, we gave him 200 pesos ($4). If you are new to the area, you should get one to help you navigate. Siquijor, especially the famous falls, will never let you down. We'll tell you more about our trip in the coming days.
