BATIK MAKING AT THE JAKARTA TEXTILE MUSEUM A Very Interesting Traditional Culture
Hello hive friends ..
Do you know about batik? Ehmm you must know right? Batik is a type of painting on cloth using canting, this traditional art comes from Indonesia which is very unique and authentic. I want to share a story about my first trip to the Jakarta Textile Museum in Jakarta.
Oh yes, the first time I came to the Jakarta Textile Museum, I was immediately greeted with a warm and distinctive atmosphere. I and other visitors entered the museum and went around looking at the museum's collection. There are many arts that depict the meaning and philosophy of various forms of batik. We were guided by a friendly guide who explained the history of batik, the meaning and philosophy of the batik on display. The thing I liked the most was the batik workshop. I and other visitors were given the opportunity to make our own batik cloth. After going around the museum, we entered a special room for batik.
In batik, the things that need to be prepared are epron to prevent hot wax from getting on clothes, then canting for painting (a traditional tool in batik), and don't forget to make a pattern first on a cloth that will be painted using hot wax in batik.
After choosing a seat and receiving all the materials, I started painting slowly because this creativity requires precision and patience, because if the drops do not fall in place, then it cannot be erased or forced to make its own pattern. I carefully slowly carved hot wax ink on a piece of cloth that had been painted with a batik pattern, nervously I tried it, because I was afraid that the wax ink would be messy and make my painting strange.
Little by little I moved my hand slowly following the flower pattern that I chose, with full precision I steadied each drop of wax ink to form a perfect batik. Although I was a little nervous but I got quite good results, there was only a little ink that I accidentally dropped on the cloth and made my batik painting a little wider. Lol.
After finishing painting with a canting, the cloth was then colored with various colors. At that time I chose red, because it looked very beautiful. After I handed it over to the coloring section, I waited for the results by walking and walking around the museum. After a while the batik I made was finished. After the batik cloth was dyed and the shape of the painting I made was visible, after it was dry they allowed me to take home my first batik work. Yuhuuu.
That's the short story of my trip to the Jakarta Textile Museum while doing batik. This was the first and most beautiful experience for me. Learning about my own culture in a fun way. From batik I learned a lesson that for every result you want, there are things that must be sacrificed. Such as patience, precision, discipline, and also keep trying and not giving up because the results are always in line with the effort.
So what do you think? Are you interested in visiting the Jakarta Textile Museum? I'm sure you'll be very interested and don't forget if you visit Jakarta, come to the Jakarta Textile Museum, and you will bring an unforgettable experience.😊
