Sweet water beach or commonly known as Aia Manih beach in Minangkabau language is very beautiful and amazing. This beach, which is located in the west of Sumatra, is very charming and attracts the attention of the world. Not only because of the beautiful atmosphere and beaches, but because of the heartbreaking story that happened in it.
Do you know the legend about Malin Kundang stone?
A rock with the shape of a man prostrating on the beach. Rock with some carved ship fragments around it. The stone was originally a real ship and a healthy and normal boy. If you don't know it, check out the following review.
A beach with a charming panorama.
As is well known in Padang, West Sumatra, there are many beaches. One of them is this sweet water beach which is a beach with a wide coastline, gentle contours, and whitish brown sand. This beach is known for its small waves and has a beautiful panorama on the north side.
We can see the mountain mounds from a distance. In addition, there are two small islands, namely the small banana island (pisang ketek) and the large banana (banana gadang) which are not far from the north end of this beach.
Besides the beautiful panorama. There is also no denying that the biggest attraction of this beach is the legend of the stone Malin Kundang which is phenomenal, so many times it has been brought to the screen in various versions.
Malin Kundang short legend
On this beach it is said that there is a very sad story of a young man named Malin. A child who was turned to stone due to a curse from his mother. For not recognizing his own mother when he became rich.
Loving filial son.
Initially Malin was a child in general who really loved his mother. An obedient child who always obeys his mother's words. Over time malin grew into a young adult. He also decided to work out of town in order to change the fate of his family. Because they were alone. Malin and his mother.
Rich and forgetting his mother.
After wandering and working for several years. Malin was able to change his fate, he became a rich young man who was full of wealth. On the other hand, it turns out that Malin has married a beautiful woman who comes from a noble family.
After a long time, Malin decided to return to his village because he missed the village. After arriving at his village, Malin even boasted by sharing the treasures he had. Until the news was heard by his mother and soon his mother came to him.
When his mother saw malin and called him. Malin felt embarrassed because he saw his mother's shabby and poor condition. Not wanting to be caught by his wife, Malin kicked his mother out and pushed her and shouted at her. He loudly said that "you are not my mother". With a very deep pain, her mother couldn't stand it until she finally took her oath to turn Malin into stone.
The beauty of the beach with a strange sad legend.
If you come to this beach. It was clear to see a boulder in the form of a human prostrate and also some broken pieces of ships and mines that are usually found on a ship. It is said that the shards of stone around him are ships from Malin Kundang which also turned into stone.
Very clear details that look as if it is true that the stone is Malin Kundang and his sunken ship. However, because the stone is exposed to the waves too often, its shape has eroded and some have been repaired so that the stone does not look natural.
Now the stone is well guarded.
Back when I went to this beach in 2008. I still haven't seen any screens to protect the Malin Kundang stone from being washed away by the waves. But yesterday at the end of 2021 I was there. Malin kundang stone has been very guarded and made a place like a special pond for the legendary stone. And now around the pool there are traders who are boisterous because of the large number of tourists from various regions and even the world.
A beach with an amazing sunset.
It is undeniable that the beach is a place where we can see the sunrise and sunset. It's the same with sweet water beaches. While enjoying food and drinks, I and some of my family members enjoyed the beautiful sunset.
Tour with the belle of the beach.
ATV motor. A vehicle that is the prima donna of the beach that must be tried when exploring a beach. Same here. Traveling in this vehicle gets our adrenaline pumping. My sister and I decided to rent it and use it while traveling around. Our cheerful laughter broke the excitement when this vehicle was run.
