Greetings Hivers! It is a pleasure for me to post for the first time in this community and share a little bit with you about my travels.

Maracaibo - Land of the Beloved Sun☀

Recently I was in the city of Maracaibo , known as the "land of the beloved sun" in Venezuela, this city is known for the high temperatures that occur daily, the heat is very strong.

Being one of the main cities of Venezuela it keeps a great history, the regionalism of the Zuliano is characteristic, and their devotion to the Virgen de la Chinita is important, so much so that they have their own monument.

Monument to the Virgin of the Rosary of Chiquinquira

A monument that has a great height, a great walk where you can walk and appreciate the Zulian feeling, their devotion to this Virgin is unique, just as every region in the world has a patron saint, so does Zulia.

Legend has it that this virgin appeared to a woman on the shores of Lake Maracaibo in a little board, later this little board began to shine, which affirmed as a miracle, now that little board is in the next church: ⛪🔽🔽

The Basilica Church, place where the Virgin of the Rosary of the Chiquinquira (Chinita) rests, is a church with a great architectural design, with its beautiful paintings, unique form that I have seen in the churches of Venezuela, I consider it inside as a gothic aspect.

This church and monument acquire much earthly value in the month of November, where on November 18 is celebrated its day, the day of the Virgen de la Chinita. Where parishioners from all over Venezuela congregate to pay homage to their patron saint, bagpipes everywhere and prayers are felt in the vicinity.

Continuing the short tour of the city, very close is a very famous theater, the Baralt Theater, this theater dates the historical aspects of its construction towards the end of 1847, then with the passage of time in 1932 it was reopened, in this enclosure the first film of the cinema in Venezuela was projected, thus being another heritage of the state and the country. Unfortunately it was closed and I could not enter its facilities.

To speak of Maracaibo and not mention its immense lake would be something gloomy, this lake has an approximate surface of 13,820 Km2, being the largest lake in Latin America, in which an important battle in the independence of Venezuela (Naval Battle of Lake Maracaibo), also appeared floating the little board of the virgin of the rosary of the Chiquinquirá (chinita), is the General Rafael Urdaneta bridge (8900 meters) with which connects Maracaibo with the rest of the country.

The General Rafael Urdaneta Bridge can be seen on the horizon.

Something that is common in this city is the famous "cepillado" (brushed). It is a small ice cream made of dry ice, it is scraped and an essence of the flavor of your choice is added, with one like this you hydrate while walking through the city.

To finish this little post about this city, its gastronomy is very varied, but an ingredient that is never missing in their meals is the plantain, fried, parboiled, etc, here I show you a tumbarrancho and the famous patacon, typical dishes of the city.
