Hi Everyone,

Right in the middle of the bustling city of Osaka, Tennoji Park offers nature, culture and history all in one place. Situated just a short walk from Tennoji Station, the park is incredibly easy to access. The first thing I noticed was how beautifully the modern architecture of the surrounding area contrasted with the traditional atmosphere within the park. Tennoji is one of the oldest public parks in Osaka, I believe the government wants to preserve this valuable piece of history as much as possible for their residents.

Within Tennoji Park, we can find a traditional Japanese garden—Keitakuen Garden. We didn’t visit the park as it was getting late in the afternoon, which was close to closing time. From the entrance, we can see a small pond and lots of maple trees. I can imagine that during autumn, there would be lots of red and orange autumn leaves throughout the garden.

Osaka City Museum of Fine Arts can also be found in Tennoji Park. It is currently under renovation and temporarily closed until 2025. We were looking forward to visiting the museum, which was a shame, but we look forward to visiting it when it reopens. Right across from the museum, the long pathway leads to Tennoji Zoo.

Tennoji Park also has a zoo right in the middle of the city. Although much smaller than what we have back home like Taronga Zoo, it would be a nice little stop if you have kids or if you love animals. If you do decide to visit the zoo, try to visit during the week as weekends are super popular with families.

Tennoji Park is conveniently located near the JR & metro station. There is plenty of food around the station where you can purchase and enjoy the food at a park bench. Apart from Keitakuen Garden and the zoo, most of the park is free to visit. If you are visiting in winter, a few minutes from the park is an outdoor ski rink which also is a great way to finish the day off.

Thank you for sharing on this nice park which looks really nice and peaceful! And also glad to know that it is easily accessible from a JR station.
