Hi Everyone,

Following our stop at Circular Quay, we hopped on a ferry and about 15 minutes later, we were at Cockatoo Island. Along the way, we saw the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, and boats cruising around the harbour on this beautiful day.

Cockatoo Island is now a place people visit for a day trip or stay overnight in one of many tents set up by the organisers. Once a convict settlement and later a shipbuilding hub, the moment you step off the ferry, you feel like you have stepped back in time.

The island has some fantastic picnic areas with views of the harbour. Pack a lunch or grab a bite at the café on the island. It's not cheap, though, so prepare to spend a bit if you don’t bring any food yourself. We had some food before coming onto the island, so we didn’t bring any with us.

If you are up for staying there for a long time, make sure to find a good spot for the sunset. It is an open area, so it is best to go on a clear, sunny day. And if you are up for an extra-long adventure, you can always book a tent to continue your day for some glamping or simple camping. There are loads of facilities on site, but make sure you book this ahead of time as it does get very popular.

It is such a beautiful place, not far from Sydney Harbour. We have yet to experience the camping/glamping option, but we plan to maybe next year when we are back in Australia after our long trip, which is coming up very soon.
