Băniței Gorges, Hunedoara County, Romania, a place out of a fairytale

Hello travelers from all over the world

After a few days vacation that I had in some amazing areas of Romania, here I am in front of the computer again trying to share with you a sensational place that I visited at the end of July this year.

Today, I'd like to venture together through the Beniței Gorges.

I'm sure not many of you have heard of this place so let me introduce it.

The Băniței Gorges are located in the Grădiștea Muncelului Cioclovina Natural Park in the Șureanu Mountains, a place that I only read about on the internet and that I wanted to visit for a long time.

We came here by car, so if you use this means of getting here, you should know that the Băniței Gorges are located somewhere on the road that connects the cities of Hateg and Petrosani.

As a landmark to find the parking place you have to look for an abandoned gas station, which you will surely find very easily as it is very close to the main road.

I left the car here in the parking lot, which by the way is not paid, and took the dusty road towards the entrance to the gorges.

The route is very easy just follow the signs, being in a national park right at the entrance to the gorge we had to pay a fee of 5lei/1euro/day/person.

After crossing a wooden bridge over the river Bănița in a few minutes in front of us appears the spectacular entrance to the gorge.

I was already running out of patience to explore them, but wait, I forgot to tell you, to visit these gorges you need special equipment, as most of the trail you will do through water.

So if you decide to come here consider doing it in the summer, and not in the rainy season because the water can rise very high and you can't walk through the water, and don't think about swimming here, the water is very cold even in the summer.

For the next ten minutes I was speechless, I was looking up when I was paying attention to where I was walking, these rock formations are fascinating with amazing coloristics.

But if you still don't have the patience until summer to come here, there is a secondary possibility to visit the gorges via a Via Ferrata trail.

The width of these gorges is quite small, I think it was somewhere around 3-4 meters (I'm referring to the water access), and in height I think they were over 10 meters, they are slightly curved at the top.

We loved the place very much and we did a few more steps after we came out of the gorges, they were only a few hundred meters long, but even after them the nature is just as beautiful.

This is surely a place of fairytale and also a perfect place to get away from worldly bustle and be reconnected with the nature. It's so beautiful and peaceful. I would always choose this kind of places over cities. 🌿

Considering that it was over 33 degrees outside, such a walk through the Băniței Gorges came just in time.
Moreover, through the gorges was very cool because of the air currents but let's not forget the water flowing there which was also very cold.
Moreover, through the quays was very cool because of the air currents but let's not forget the water flowing there which was also very cold.

Thanks so much for stopping by.
