Hello hivers,
As I said in the last post we have visited Hungary many times, but we have never been to Tapolca, so together with our friends we decided to make a visit to cave below town and its surroundings.
After the day trip to Lake Balaton, in the evening we booked accommodation about 20km from Tapolca, our next tourist destination in Hungary, and of course we bought our tickets online, because we had no chance to find tickets if we got them at the ticket office.
The truth is that we intended to go to Tapolca first, but because we couldn't find tickets available that day we changed the whole sightseeing configuration in Hungary, and started with Lake Balaton and the next day we visited the cave under the town.
Short history of the cave:
The Tapolca Lake Cave was discovered in 1903. The cave, which has been the first tourist cave with electric light, is under protection since 1942.
After paying the entrance fees, the adventure of discovering the cave under the city began.
We bought the tickets online and they cost 2500/HUF/6,79EURO/person.
This is the way to the underground cave.
All the history of the place and details about everything we find and what we can do in the cave can be seen in the entrance hall.
I remembered that in my country I also have such formations and wondered how nature could create something like this, amazing.
What attracted my attention very much was that in one of the rooms under a glass floor I could see the cave flooded with water and a diver making his way out, also here you can find Stalactite Room, Bat Room, Geopark Room, Ancient Archaeology Room, Ancient Karst Room, 3D Movie Room, Boating, Playground, Climbing Wall.

Are you looking for something to be an experience you’ll remember for the rest of your life?
Head to Tapolca Lake Cave!
Did you know that the Tapolca Lake Cave is unique because there is no other place in the world that offers such an extensive cave system under a settlement that can be navigated by boat?
Today I take you with me to a destination that attracts more and more tourists every year, being an ideal place to relax.
Paddling in an underwater cave lake, this is an experience you will certainly never forget, the navigable section of the cave is somewhere around 180 meters, the water depth is about 40 cm and in some places a few meters.
Activities:
In this chapter you could say your only activity is to take the boat that the person there gives you, take the paddle in hand and start discovering the caves under the city.
Here you will have to paddle alone, in the narrow corridors you will even have to use your hands to move forward, here you will be amazed and why not excited by everything you see.
Believe me, I have never had such an experience in my life.
Move around:
-Tihany Abbey
-Balaton for explorers
-Helikon Palace Museum
Hungarian cuisine:
After we had gone through the whole cave we came out again and guess what, we got hungry.
In the vicinity of the place where we visited the cave, after some googling, we found a Hungarian restaurant, we really liked the idea to go and try the Hungarian specialties.
As we usually do when we are in Hungary, we want to try their food with traditional and what could we eat but a goulash by the book and some pork with potatoes, the food was sensational, we didn't even expect it to be different as we are in Hungary.
The text you just read is mine and the pictures are also taken by me with a Huawei Mate 20 Pro.
