Church ''Soborul Sfintilor 12 Apostoli''(Sobor of the Holy 12 Apostles) inside Barsana Monastery, Maramures, Romania Part I
Hello travelers from all over the world
You already know very well that I like to visit places steeped in history and even more those places with a strong spiritual charge.
So today we will go to the Maramures area, and yes, in Maramures there are many such places, among them I like to visit the very old wooden churches.
But we will not only visit the church but today's post will be the first part and in the second part (a new post) I will present Barsana Monastery, I must admit that this place marked me deeply, I tried some feelings, something I have never felt when I visited a place of worship.
We arrived here after lunch during the week and I have to tell you that although Barsana Monastery has two very large parking lots I hardly managed to find a place to leave my car, this proves that it is one of the most sought after places of worship in Romania.
Before the beginning of the climb to the monastery there are a few souvenir shops and church items but also a few places where you can order something to eat, I was very happy to see that here I can taste the traditional Maramures cuisine.
I wasn't that hungry, so I saved the food for the end, when I come back from the monastery.
I know, that in the title I mentioned that we will visit the church and I keep writing about the monastery here, but this church is inside the space where the Monastery of Barsana, today I will take you with me to visit the church and in a future post I will present and Monastery Barsana, they are so beautiful both that I could not compress everything in one post.
The church is specific to the area of Maramures, it is mostly built of wood with a main entrance and two side entrances.
A little bit of history
The monastery's wooden church was built by priest Ioan Ștefanca with the help of the faithful in 1711. On July 12, 1791, the monastery was disbanded and the monks who had been banished took refuge in Neamț Monastery. The monastery was devastated, the monastery cells and other buildings were destroyed and the property confiscated. On the old hearth, only the church and the priory building remained. In order to protect them from desecration and destruction, the believers of Bârsana decided to move them to the hearth of the village, where they still stand today. In 1806, the interior of the church was repainted by the painter Hodor Toader on wood, partially leveled with a layer of lime-coated canvas.
I entered the church through one of the side entrances that like the main entrance are very small, after a few steps I was inside, and wow, it's amazing.
Let's take a few steps inside.
You can see that people here put great value on the maintenance of these places, as you can see in the attached pictures everything looks perfect.
I spent moments of peace and quiet here, my dears our visit today has come to an end I hope you enjoyed it and I wait for you in the next post where I will present one of the most beautiful monasteries in Romania.
THE END!

What a nice typical church, the architecture remind more to a kind of magical refuge than a church but looks really a nice and calm place.
I'm so glad you liked it and thank you for stopping by.
