Iulia Hasdeu Castle in Câmpina(Romania), travel among legends, ghosts and seances
Hello everyone
Have you ever visited a haunted castle?
Some time ago I was reading some information about a castle in Romania, more precisely in the town of Campina which according to legends is haunted, so I put this location on my short list and now it's time to visit it and today we will visit it together.
The castle is located on Carol I Boulevard in Campina, Prahova county.
Visiting hours are from Tuesday to Sunday between 9 am and 5 pm (the schedule may be different in winter).
The cost of an entrance ticket for one person is 15,75lei/3euro.
We were accommodated in the city of Ploiesti and on the way back home we took a little detour from the main road to Campina, in a relatively short time we were already in the parking lot near the castle (parking is free).
As soon as I passed the entrance gate I saw the castle, wow, that was the first impression.
After we bought the tickets, the lady at the ticket office told us that today, unfortunately, we could only visit the ground floor part, as the upstairs part was being renovated and we could visit the castle courtyard.
Just now we received a device with the help of which we could better understand the history of the castle as well as the meaning of each piece that we met in the castle, we just had to type on the device the number of the respective piece.
But let's see what this castle hides.
Hearing the rumors that this castle is haunted (I was expecting some strange things to happen here) I entered the first room which was not very big so with a little fear, and the first object that caught my attention was a very old piano, which belonged to Julia Hasdeu.
Let's have a look at some pictures of the lobby.
In order to continue I need to give you an introduction to those who have lived here.
The castle was built between 1894-1896 by Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu in memory of his daughter Iulia Hasdeu who died of tuberculosis at a very young age, 19.
Here we can see Julia Hasdeu's mother.
In this painting we can see Bogdan Petriceicu Hasdeu.
Petriceicu Hasdeu was so affected by his daughter's death that he made a pact with the devil only to be able to communicate with her after her death.
Still here in the castle we go together in the following to the room where the Spiritism sessions were held, where Hasdeu apparently managed to communicate in various forms with his daughter.
It seems that the castle was also designed according to his daughter's vision and desire, following communication with her in those Spiritism sessions.
Some voices say that even nowadays in the evening you can still hear Iulia Hasdeu playing the piano (it is the piano I showed you earlier) and her father applauding her.
We make a brief stop in Hasdeu's office, I was frankly anxious to see the room where the Spiritism sessions were held.
In Hasdeu's office we find paintings showing his wife, his daughter and himself and many personal things.
In another room we find Julia Hasdeu's room, a small room where we find Julia's work table (here she prepared for school, being a graduate of the Sorbonne), a showcase where notebooks, a doll, a inkwell and other personal objects are displayed.
Here each object has a number that if you type it on the machine we received at the entrance you will find out what it means.
You can even see all the objects Hasdeu used to communicate with his daughter beyond death.
Our journey today ends in the castle garden where we can find the statue of Hasdeu and other objects scattered around the garden.
In conclusion, this day of exploring the haunted Iulia Hasdeu Castle turned out to be very interesting, we discovered a lot of interesting information that made us want to discover every corner of the castle.
If you liked what you saw and read here please don't forget to give a LiKe, Follow, reBlog or a Comment, for all this I thank you, and until the next post I say goodbye.
P.S. The attached pictures you have just seen are taken by me with my mobile phone, and the text is also designed by me.

It looks rather cute than haunted 🙂 But even when it's haunted by daughter and her father then we have nothing to worry about 🙂
Great tour! This is my kind of place 😉
Have a lovely day!
Indeed the castle is very beautiful but the legend behind the castle is a bit scary and sad, can you imagine a father losing his daughter at only 19 years old.
I'm so glad you enjoyed this virtual tour, and yes these places really are at the top of my favorites.
Thank you very much for visiting!

How nice!
From the outside it looks kind of small, but it's amazing all that it houses. I'm glad these types of places are open to the public.
!LUV
It really is an amazing place especially if you hear what the legends say about the place, in fact the story itself is one with an unhappy ending.
