Let's explore the Botanical Garden in Jibou, Sălaj, Romania Part.I
Greetings to consumers of amazing places
These days in the west of Romania it seems that the cold weather is doing its thing, so during the day we had acceptable temperatures but at night the temperature reached around zero degrees even below.
Sitting over a cinnamon-flavored tea, aww, I'm already thinking about the winter holidays, but wait, there's still some time until then, I remembered a trip I took last year (2023) to one of the most beautiful botanical gardens in Europe, a botanical garden that is located in the courtyard of a palace, namely the Wesselenyi Palace.
I hope I've got your attention.
So let's start our journey.
We arrived here by car, the Botanical Garden has a parking lot that is not very big, and if you get here in the afternoon you might not find a parking space.
The price of an entrance ticket is 20lei/4euro/person and the visiting program is daily from 8am to 7pm, the program may differ depending on the season.
A short history.
The Botanical Garden in Jibou was established during the communist period (1959-1968) from a deep desire and initiative of the biology teacher Vasile Fati, supported by his students and teachers of the time. They succeeded in convincing the community that the park surrounding the Wesselenyi Castle, where the high school was located, was a suitable place to create a botanical garden. From 1974-1990 it operated as the Young Naturalists' Station. Later, after the Revolution, the Jibou Biological Research Center was established. Thus, the Botanical Garden became the main field of activity, along with all kinds of museum, aquarium, research and micro-production activities.
Since my first steps through the Botanical Garden I can say that it surprised me in a pleasant way and that it is indeed one of the most beautiful botanical gardens I have seen.
The Botanical Garden covers an area of over 25 hectares, here you can meet many species of trees, tropical plants and many others, more we can also visit the greenhouses with exotic plants but I will write about them in another post.
The main attraction outside the Botanical Garden is the Japanese garden, and it is really delightful, an oasis of peace and relaxation, a connection with nature.
Being in such a beautiful place I couldn't leave without buying souvenirs.
In the conclusion of today's post I can say that I am mesmerized by the outside of the Botanical Garden in Jibou, more I had a few hours of relaxation and connection with nature walking through its alleys.
THE END!
