Very nice hike and more interesting that those shells are so on the surface.
Aren't they dangerous?
I remember last year here in our area shells were found and the special forces came and picked them up and took them to a range and destroyed them.

I don't think so... But I remember when I was younger in the city, he found a load of them still in working order not far from us and the area was completely surrounded !

If you found such active shells I believe they presented some degree of danger.
Here in Romania, if you find shells, grenades or other remnants of World War II and don't notify the police, you get a fine.
Don't even think about taking those items home.
I think there's the same type of rules here, but I went there several times and the shells, even not active, were still on site !
