The great view of Avala Tower in Belgrad, Serbia
Hello dear travellers
What amazing places have you explored?
These days, especially today in the west of Romania we have some days of fire with temperatures above 40 degrees/104Fahrenheit, we actually melt, in our area these temperatures are not normal for the calendar date.
I love summer and seaside holidays, but I can't stand such high temperatures, but I'm holding out.
Seeing the temperatures outside I decided to share with you today one of the places I explored this year in early spring, perhaps to see how dressed up I was then and remembering that it wasn't so hot then maybe I could cool down a bit.
I saw this place on the vlog of some fulltime travelers that I follow all the time, honestly in the first minutes when I saw it I didn't find it so interesting, but during the description of it I got an idea in my mind "I must visit it too".
So after some time one weekend I went on the road to explore more places in Belgrade, Serbia, a country that has a lot to say, but due to the fact that it is not part of the European Union it is a bit harder to reach and all its beauties don't get much publicity.
The drive here took me about 4 hours, with all the stops along the way as we saw something interesting to photograph as we stopped along the roadside.
To cross into the neighbouring country, even if it is not part of the EU, you don't need a passport but only your identity card, only that unlike the other border crossing points in Europe, here the controls are more thorough, because there is a lot of smuggling of alcohol and cigarettes.
I relatively passed quickly, I spent about half an hour in customs, with about 4 cars in front of me, the customs officers were very nice, they asked me where I was going, how long I was staying and asked me something else but I don't remember.
Once in Serbia everything changes, amazing pictures and what I like here are the people, they are actually so friendly, but let's not forget to mention the food, delicious (I ate a lot of "plescavita", a traditional food).
Walking on the national road at one point at the top of a hill begins to see the imposing tower Avala, wow, I was amazed and seemed to have no patience to get there once.
From the national road we took some roads winding through an extraordinary forest, clean air, silence, you could only hear birds chirping, a special beauty.
After a few kilometers on the road through the forest at one point the tower appears in front of us, I actually stopped the car in the middle of the road and looked how beautiful it is, I stayed only a few seconds because behind me other cars had stopped and I did not want to stand in their way.
A few hundred meters further down we found the parking lot in front of the tower, a generous, guarded parking lot.
Where is Avala Tower located?
Avala Tower is located a few kilometers away from Belgrade, Serbia on the mountain of the same name (Avala).
As I wrote above the route to the tower is amazing.
Some data about the tower
The tower has a height of 204m, it was finished in 1965 and in 1999 when the former Yugoslavia was bombed, even this tower did not escape and was also bombed, but 11 years later(2010) it was rebuilt and became a tourist attraction that can be visited.

Let's go back to….
Here we met a very kind guard, even though he didn't speak English he understood that we wanted to go up the tower and led us to the tower cashier to get our tickets.
The ticket to go up the tower cost us 300RSD/2,55euro/person, a very low price compared to other towers in Europe where the price is ten times higher.
With tickets in hand we headed for the entrance to the lifts leading up to the top of the tower, here one of the people at the entrance climbed with us to the top.
When I opened the elevator door I had a view of the area and its surroundings, being the beginning of spring the forest began to take color.
We spent more than an hour at the top of the tower after taking lots of photos and looking around with binoculars.
Everywhere you will find panels with lots of information and details about the tower, I think they are worth reading.
After getting down from the tower we also explored the area next to the tower where we came across a children's playground, very well equipped, with swings, story houses, playgrounds, story houses communicating with each other through an amazing bridge.
Also here we saw walls where children could climb, we even saw a church and some places to relax.
My opinion after visiting this place is that here besides visiting the tower you can also come to relax, it really is a good place.

Can one be considered a Spomenik? I ask because the architecture and the material remind me it.
Anyway, very nice pictures of such an unusual place! I love it!
