The mystery of the earth Mounds in Vladimirescu commune, Romania
Hello travelers
Today I would like to take you with me to a place full of mystery even nowadays, we are going to the largest commune here in western Romania.
Even this commune had a lot of German influences, even its old name is Glogovăț/Glogowatz, the legend says that it was named after a outlow who used to spend his days in this place, the first information about this commune appeared somewhere around 1752, to be honest I don't know if this is really the year when the first information appeared because I live about 30 kilometers away and the commune I live in dates back to 1332, so we have some rather controversial information.
I searched a lot on the internet to find out more about this place but unfortunately I didn't find any information close to the place, only some information, from the research I did it seems that on the side of the national road that connects Deva to Arad there are 5 Mounds (La Movile) of earth still unexplored, can you believe it.
I have passed by this place thousands of times because it's on my way when I go to the city but it's also on the way of hundreds of thousands of people who follow the exit road to Europe, and now I decided not to pass by indifferently but to stop and try to explore a little bit.
Also from my research I discovered that the place is not open to tourists because it is not yet explored, but even so I stopped here to have a look.
Right in front of the largest of the mounds runs the tram line that connects the city to several villages, what is the feeling of the tram passengers who commute daily in the city and pass by these mounds, none of them has aroused the curiosity to find out what is there(very interesting because we Romanians are a curious nation).
I got in front of the blue door which is locked and I can't have access to the interior, but as I was writing earlier Romanians are a curious nation, through the free space at the blue door I put my cell phone and took some pictures of the interior.
After looking at the pictures, I thought it looked like a church in an advanced state of disrepair, and in one picture I seem to see a sculpture of a priest (that's what it looks like to me) and a column (at most what's left of it).
Above the blue door is written the year 1852 and a name, probably then this church was made which I think is Catholic because in this area there were German influences, including the name written above the door is German.
Let's explore these mounds from the outside, at first glance on the largest and neatest of the 5 earth mounds we can see some very old crosses (on one of them the writing has been erased, you can still distinguish a little bit the color used) and some grave monuments (on some of them you can see some writing but also the year 1967) with a place probably for flowers or candles, I think.
Let's climb above the mound of earth.
Here you can see the other 4 mounds of earth that are untouched, not even mowed.
After almost an hour spent here I still can't believe that this place is left to float in time without any interest for the local authorities to take any steps to explore it and give it for visitation.
For me it still remains a place full of mystery because I really don't know who built these mounds of earth, what was their use (from what I read it seems to be tombs) and exactly when, I would love to hear and legend about this place.
My dear my today's blog has come to an end I hope I have caught your attention with this mysterious place in Romania.
THE END!

I really loved this article. It's amazing. I really appreciate your curiosity and your attention to the history of the place - which is something you can find also in my posts.
I also appreciate the fact that you underlined the lack of care that institutions have for their cultural heritage. It happens also in Sardinia, and in Italy in general, and I find it terrible. I wish our governments were less interested in wars and business, and more interested in preserving this incredible richness for the future generations.
Thank you for writing this post, my friend! ✌️🤠
I am so glad you liked my post, thank you for stopping by.
And yes, the lack of interest of the authorities leads to the loss of these values, I am very interested in preserving these amazing monuments and sharing them with as many people as possible.
Have a great week ahead.
