Hello, my friends!
I hope that everything is fine with you and that it will continue to be so.
Today I continue my story about my trip to Karelia. We were going to the very heart of this region, to the sacred mountain Votto-Vaaru.
No one knows what meanings those stone objects that are on this mountain are endowed with. But it is the highest point in Karelia, and is located at the intersection of various ancient migration routes. It all comes down to the fact that all the stone "seyds" that we have met here have a certain ritual significance.
Moving along one of the slopes of the mountain, we watched with delight at the endless sea of taiga that stretched below us. It swayed under the gusts of wind and went somewhere beyond the horizon.
Clouds driven by the wind created huge dark spots on the surface of the taiga forest. These spots slid along the tops of the pines and firs like dark islands. It all looked very beautiful and mysterious.
We walked under the rays of the sun on the boulders under our feet. The road was not particularly difficult. The only thing that tired me was the endless descents and ascents. They replaced each other with an unpleasant frequency. We're exhausted.
Sometimes there were small swamps on our way, which we had to bypass. It was good that we had enough supplies of drinking water with us. And we didn't have to experiment with swamp water. Moreover, it was already owned by frogs))
And of course, the most important miracle of Votto-Vaara is the stone objects. Huge multi-ton boulders that rest on small stone legs. Or they almost hang on the slopes , it is unclear how they do not fall down. This big stone should have rolled down a long time ago. But he remains in his place, as if he has put down roots in the ground and is holding on to them.
And there are a lot of such objects here! If it were possible to make a map of this area and get explanations about what and how it is located here, it would cause people to be surprised.
I took a few pictures so that I could then create a panorama of the view from one of the mountain's spurs. Of course, this does not quite convey the beauty of this place. It's worth visiting here yourself.
Genial
