It looks like I won't be making it to Maine this year, and I need to go more than anything. My family will hopefully be visiting me in California soon so I will see them at least. But I will miss seeing the waves on the rocks, the wind in the trees, the rainy misty days we don't get in Los Angeles.

I miss so many things; I miss the house I grew up in.

I miss my hometown of Thomaston. I miss its old-fashioned shop windows and charming old buildings. It sometimes makes me sad when I am there, but it is still a hauntingly beautiful place.

I even miss this crazy old bridge by the river we were supposed to avoid when I was younger. It used to be a trash site but now it is a lovely park. I went there a few years ago to paint watercolors with my father.

I miss visiting my mother in Portland, it is such an intriguing old city. Much of the city is made of brick because it has burned down so many times.

A small, vibrant city by the bay; Portland Maine is world known for great food and drink.

Speaking of food. I miss visiting my aunt and uncle in Unity, Maine; and eating their great; down-home cooking. My aunt Sidney would do most of the cooking, but my uncle Jim would often grill up the meat. After a hard day of toiling in the fields, they would sit us down for a lovely dinner. We would sit and talk for hours on almost every topic, often with a glass of wine or two or three. Often we would also have tea with our dessert....often delicious pie!

After dessert, we would gather around the TV and watch a mystery together. Then I would bed down in the cabin out back and read myself to sleep.

Then I would wake to the beautiful countryside.

I also miss visiting my brother Josh in Damariscotta. It is a charming little town that does not get too many tourists.

The last time I visited there was some sort of celebration going on and we had dinner by the docks.

We also went to visit the Botanical Gardens in Boothbay Harbor. A beautiful. mystical place.

I miss Maine. Hopefully, I can visit again soon.

What a stunning state indeed. Hope you can visit it one day soon… glad to hear family will come and visit you. Sometimes such a long distance can be hard. I live abroad and haven’t seen most family for over 2 years now.

Thank you, where do you travel to and from, if I may ask?

My family is in the Netherlands and hubbies in England. We live in the most southern point of Spain… for now. In the pandemic we moved (back) there from Malta. You are welcome @twirble 😁

A very emotional story. I wish you to come home soon! 👋
